Rainy day fun....

We haven't had a nice weekend in quite a while here in the Northeast, and this weekend is no exception.

So the wife and I took the rainy day opportunity to muck-up her nice clean Cherokee today:

^ That one doesn't look like much, but trust me - it was a pretty steep side angle drive for a 100% stock Jeep - driven by people who don't do this **** every day!

Fun stuff. Now all we have to do is let the rain wash all the mud off the truck.

Excellent pics! Yea, this NE weather is crappy, it's rained hard all day today

I'm glad to see someone actually using their jeeps, I hate f'ers that buy them and then never take them off road.

Me too, man. I really hate the SUV craze for that reason - who's gonna take their $60,000 Escalade and do what we just did? And if you'll NEVER do it, why have a frigging truck??

The Cherokee is an absolute beast. 4.0L straight six, torquey as hell. Nice solid beam axles at both ends, beefy 4wd system. A brute offroad, even stock like hers. Every so often we like to go put it thru its paces. The place we hit is about 35 miles away from where we live, but it's some sort of state park/hunting ground or something like that. Huge - several square miles at least, and there's never anyone there. We just romp. Several times we've had to go brush-hopping because we wound up on trails that were waaaaay too narrow for a Jeep - more suited to a quad . "Fold the mirrors" has been uttered on many occasions as I try to squeeze through some trees . And I'm telling you - that "tilt" picture doesn't do the angle justice - we actually slid down a bit off that grade and the several after it. Lots 'o fun! We also take it out on the local beaches where allowed.

The wife loves it, and never gives me **** about the abuse to her truck. While she might not tackle some of the terrain herself, she's a 100% willing passenger, and eggs me on. But I took the "splash" pics while she drove - she nailed that one mud puddle at like 30 mph - it was killer.

I only wish the place was closer - we'd go a lot more often.

My sister has a wrangler, I think like a '95 or so with the 4.0l, she loves it to death

Her boyfriend just rebuilt the engine, she says it runs like a dream now.

I'd bet that last pic was mighty hairy, I'm not sure I'd be so willing to do that stuff, I'm glad someone does!
