Paypal/Ebay problem

I listed some superchargers and other items on Ebay for sale. Here is the auction in question:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMESO%3AIT

At the bottom under payment instructions I said "no credit cards or e-checks". The reason I did this (in all my auctions) was because I do not want to upgrade accounts and be charged fees especially since I buy and sell a lot of high dollar items. Before the auction ends the winning bidder "carl" sends me a email asking if I'll knock the price down because he can buy them "all day long for cheaper". I tell him that his bid of $750 for the first one is standing but I'd sell him the other 3 for $700 each plus shipping. He inquired about buying all 4 I had for sale. He tells me that $700 each was fine but he doesn't think he's going to make good on his bid unless I lower the price. I tell him that he is a long-standing member with over 750 positive feedback. It would be a shame for him to screw that up now. He replies back saying that he'll make good on the auction but only be able to purchase one additonal blower. I tell him that it's no problem. When the auction ends just tell me how many he wants and i'll get him a total for everything.

The auction ends. INSTANTLY I recieve and instant payment via pyapal for $770-ish.. ($750+20shipping) even though I had not given him a total. Paypal then sends me an email saying "in order to receive these funds you must upgrade to a premium or business account". My payment sent in was charged $23 in fees because of his payment type. I immediatly declined payment sent him a very nice email explaining why I declined the payment. I offered to discount the item to cover the cost of a money order, envelope, stamp, express shipping....what ever he wanted to do but I was un-willing to upgrade accounts on paypal.

He tells me he sent payment and the problem is on my end and I should have to eat the losses on this sale and all futures sales. I told him that would not happen but I'd work with him anyway I could ....even to the point of accepting his personal check as long as I didn't have to upgrade my account.

The problem is this ass-hat is going to leave me negative feedback even though I've bent over backwards from day 1 to help him out. What kind of recourse or action can I do to prevent this from happening??

The problem lies in paypals image.... at bottom of the auction, it shows credit cards... :)
but.....
you clearly stated "I prefer paypal (NO CREDIT CARDS and E-checks). Item will be shipped within 48hours of receipt of payment. Use BUY IT NOW and receive free shipping to the lower US. For international orders please email for quote."
I would send an email to paypal explaining the problem (might be another image than can be inserted w/o the credit cards)

and IF he does leave you negative feedback, plead your case to ebay! - and put a response back stating that you DID say NO CREDIT CARDS in the listing...

btw.. people suck.

the thing is I don't think he sent a credit card payment....normally it will tell me when someone sends credit card payment... This one muct've been some sort of weird credit balance or paypal stock sale or something.... i thought I had my bases covered.

Yeah, it says it right in your auciton! I've ran into a few problems on eBay and both paypal and eBay will work with you, usually with a pretty good outcome. Like Jackelope said, it does show the pictures of the credit cards but you did state "no credit cards". I guess just try talking to the guy some more and if he continues to be an a**, than just let him go and leave you the negative feedback and than work it out with eBay and Paypal if needed!

... and be sure leave him negative feedback - as in "CANT READ" - and reply to his feedback, most people would take your side since you stated you terms clearly.

i love how the guy said he wasn't going to pay for the winning bid (trying to butter me up) then he asks for a discount, then he sends the wrong payment, then he wont work with me about the right payment when I offer to ay for it for him.

p.s. he sent me an email saying he'd send me a check but not until his funds are put back in his account. I told him that i denied them instantly and it should be returned instantly. He's a jackass. I'd like to take a swing at him.
