P5 cargo capacity

Last time I put a post about the P5's capacity on the P5 board, it got moved to off-topic, so I thought I'd save some moderator the time of moving it and put it here to begin with.

I just built two bookcases: 3 feet wide, 4 feet high, one foot deep. I had to get them home, so I emptied out the P5, ditched the back seats and rear shelf, and jammed them in there.

The 3 foot width barely made it between the wheel wells. The 4 foot height meant I had to move the front seats forward a few notches. And the two 1 foot depths stacked neatly with several inches of clearance under the roof.

This represents 24 cubic feet of cargo space, not including the wasted bits around the edges. Not bad for a compact car!

I remain amazed at the P5's ability to swallow cargo.

Me too. Every now and then I come across a load of stuff that I don't think will fit. And then it does. Over Christmas I drove from Miami to Atlanta with the following;

Two computers in boxes
Two flat panel monitors
Luggage for me, wife and baby
Baby in car seat
Various Christmas gifts
Stroller
Bassinette for baby
Surrourd sound receiver and speaker set with sub
Last but not least, the subwoofer for the Pro. You think I'm traveling with no tunes?

Doesn't sound like a long list but try to imagine the average size of a computer box. Add the monitor and multiply times two. Baby junk takes a lot of space too.

I couldn't do that to the baby. That's why I got a Thule carrier for the wife to ride in...

So does that make us have a S.U.V or an S.U.W(sport utility wagon)? Curious?
