I'm about to be a home-owner!

Looks like the wife and I are buying our first home! Exciting times.

After some procrastination, we finally hooked up with a great real-estate agent who is a family friend. She treated us real well, and got us looking at this real nice 4 bedroom, 2 bath home in a nice neighborhood. It's going for a great price, and has more space than we know what to do with.

I'll even have room for two things I've always dreamed of - first, a pool table. And NOT in the basement! I'm talking a nice, full-size slate bad boy, in it's OWN room with plenty of stick-space. Hell yeah! I'm gonna have me a billiard room!

And second - the house is MADE to have a phat master bedroom suite. Two of the bedrooms and one of the baths (the bath is kinda unfinished, but that's less demolition for me to do) are upstairs, and we'll be able to make it into a super-shweet bedroom, sitting/reading room, and large bath. It'll take some time, but I can do 99% of the work myself and we already have some ideas clickin'.

Anyway - after some offers and counter-offers, we agreed on a price with the owner. It's gonna be a great investment, because the price is great, and the house just needs some "sprucing up" - nothing major. And the layout of it has tons of possibilities for knocking down walls and doing some excellent renovations in the future. We will definitely be able to increase the value of this place, which is important.

So - now to get qualified for a mortgage (no problem) and then have the engineer look over the house and make sure it's sound. Then go to contract and we're on our way!

I'm so excited to get out of the crappy neighborhood we live in now. I have to get up at 4:30 tomorrow morning to go to work, it's almost midnight now, and I still can't sleep.

Yay!

Check out the home prices around Santa Cruz(Silicon Beach).
Half a million for 300sq feet! It's not even that nice of a house either. Hard to believe that when I was growing up, I actually thought I'd own a house around here someday. Oh-well...

Now that I'm done whining...Congratulations on your new home!
