i got a idea....

i was looking at corksport and thought of a funny idea. Buy a very cheap mx-3 like a complete beater (it doesnt need to run it can have no interrior) so starting with the 92 mx-3 go to corksport buy the 2.5l V6 KL-ZE get all the required parts to swap it in. get a supercharger for it. so then with the striped interior just a driver seat and a load of guages. i figured if you can get the car to about 2000 lbs and about 250 whp you'll have a p/w ratio of 8 to 1 once u figure out a way to keep the wheels from spinning all 5 gears you would have a nice sleeper.

just an idea...

there are plenty of budget beaters available that make more power for less $. I suggest you look into the 2.3L turbo fords....SVO's, Merkur XR4Ti's, Thunderbird Turbocoupes, etc....

I know a guy selling one here (an 85SVO Mustang) for $4000 that runs high 13's on street tires and only 18psi. The only mods is a catback, boost controller and a roller cam from a ranger. With my turbo, a new manifold and a full 3" exhaust he'd be running low 12's like mine. stock block, stock fuel system, stock computer.

buy an 88-92 MX-6 GT...add Zombie chip(removes boost cut and remaps fuel) for $80, boost controller for $10, 3" exhaust for about $200, Cone Filter and Adapter for $15, and T-bird turbo upgrade for about $150...you'll be in 13's too !!! Total sleeper...everyone around here thinks they are getting killed by an early nineties accord. "What's wrong with my Mustang/Camaro ??" . " I'm getting killed by this bucket ! "

Phil is that the one you were telling me about down in Montgomery? Looks good and clean. You thinking about getting it? If not I may swing down and take a look at it. Might be another fun beater.

p.s. My RX7 is coming along nicely although with a lot more $$ than I originally thought and on Monday we're going back to the dealer to trade in Kendras 3S on an 04 RX8 with sport package. If everything goes smoothly I'll make a new thread and post pics of all the mazdas.

oh man.....5.0 stangs are just HEAVY...the real draw to them is that the parts are SO available they are dirt cheap. You could build a 400hp NA motor for about $2200 and then add a 250hp shot of nitrous for another $600.

The cool thing about the 2.3L turbo fords is that from the factory they were almost bullitproof. Also, a lot of the engine/tranny pieces are identical to other 2.3L engines starting in 1974 and going up to about 1994.

just fyi, the SVO mustang (2.3L turbo 4) was built by ford to compete in SCCA racing on a national level. Ford had such huge success in the drag racing area that they wanted a car that would handle as well as pull. Hence the four cylinder...it's lighter, has better weight distribution, better weight transfer, better power to weight ratio, etc.....Also, when you let out of boost you got 4 cyl gas mileage...something you couldn't do in the V8's. The SVO's were built with 3 way adjustable Konis, heavy sway bars and a extremem weight reduction package....they were litteraly race worthy cars straight from the showroom floor.
