i can't believe it!!

We just got a new P5 and we needed to sell our old car. My wife has driven this car for the past 2 years everyday with no problems. Well tonight we sold the old car finally. My wife took it to school today ran fine. Well about an hour after they left with the car I get a call on the cell that they broke down with our old car!! They said they got 20 miles and then it just died on the freeway and the freekin check engine light came on!!! WTF!! So I go over there and sure as **** the check engine light is on. I start it and it seems to run ok just idling and he says that if you try to drive it, it stutters and stalls. I can't believe the timing! So we think it's just a fuel filter being clogged since it idles and runs at small throttle settings ok. Just on the freeway it stutters and looses power.

Anybody know if leagally I'm supposed to pay to get this fixed? I told him I would help him out but I don't want to end up paying more than $100 or so.

The part that bothers me is that he knows where I live and knows we have a brand new car, I just hope he does'nt do something stupid.

Anyway, I just can't believe this.

If you're still reading this you must be really bored.

Nick

if you sold it as-is, you're not liable. but still, that's pretty shitty. try the fuel filter, but check to make sure its nothing like the plug wires first. hopefully it's something simple. i had this happen to me once. sold my old pontiac to a girl who thought it was a race car. she blew the engine on the highway about 20 minutes after she left with it. probably burried the needle and kept going.

You're definetely not liable to fix anything, but since they know where you live, I would offer to help them out, but definetely don't pay more then 100$ to fix it. It's their responsability to check the car before making a decision to buy it.

Good luck with the P5. Got any pics of your GSXR? Is it the blue/white one or did they have a different color scheme for '99?

Yeah it was kinda wierd, the guy didn't start it, drive it or even sit in it before he bought it. He's a young kid that needed a reliable car so I kinda feel bad for him. BUT I also don't know if he took it out and ran the **** out of it and did some damage to it.

I used to have pics of the bike, I can't seem to find them now. Yeah it's the blue and white one, the only other color they had were the chocolate with the brown and gold. Fugly.
