I am thinking I hate my muffler....

....damn thing just DRONES! I like it around town, going under...say 45mph but when I get on the highway it is getting on my nerves!

what a waste of money! I didn't think it would be like this....am I this old? So old that I don't like a noisy muffler?

Phantom isn't a "dude".....

I hate my muffler as well....it lays right against my bumper and has melted it in less than 1 hour of running time...I'm very pissed. I'll have to buy longer exhaust hangers and use something to buffer the HUGE muffler tip from my bumper.

As you can see from the pic I posted I don't have that problem, it is the noise that is getting to me.

Sorry Phantom! Didn't know you were a she.

Why don't you get the Racing Beat cat back system? It will give you a small but real power gain and it is one of the quietest aftermarket exhaust systems available.

Hmm, one of the hardest parts when it comes to putting it on a car. THE MUFFLER. You don't have an exact idea what it sounds like till it's too late. And I know where you're coming from. My exhaust on my P5 sounds great around town, but going down the interstate, I just want to shoot myself. It's the most annoying between 3000 and 4000 RPM. And the state of SD has 75 mph speed limit, and that's right at 3500 on my P5. Needless to say I try not to take it on long trips.

Now I don't know what it will sound like on a 4 cylinder. But I do have a Ravin muffler on my Maxima. And it's greatest tone is around 2000 Rpm. And about 3000 it drowns out. Something to look into.

I used to have a glasspack on my pro a looong time ago, also had the resonator removed. It was very loud and annoying even more so on the highway. You had to yell to talk to other people in the car. I finally had that bia cut off and welded on a Summit Racing generic "turbo" muffler. Had a nice deep tone to it, I liked it allot. Now I have a generic eBay DTM style muffler. It has a nice deep growl to it and isn't overly loud (you can still hear me from about a block or two away though). Once you hit ~4k it gets a bit rhaspy (I think partially due to my 2 exhaust leaks) but it sounds wicked above 6500 rpm's. Sounds absolutely pimp on deceleration too.

i've got the angry bumblebee thing, but of course i have the header in addition to the cat-back exhaust (RB)...you don't realize how loud it is until you are doing about 85 in the miata (top down) and your husband blows by you at about 95-100 mph and it's very, very loud...truly a force to be reckoned with

oh well, she's my big girl and i love her.

karen: watch the language or you'll be demoted from lead scrumpet again!

your muffler didn't come with a Silencer? If not, why not purchase one. It might be a good investment.

Silencer huh......I have heard of them of course, are they universal in fit? Will any silencer fit the muffler I bought?
