I knew the prairies would win :)

We went to winnipeg on a Hockey trip back in High school. You guys bring a new definition to the word "wind chill".

O f course some people would say because we have more mositure in the air it feels colder here. Then again Arizona is fond of saying "it's a dry heat so it's not as bad".

To which my response is "So's a convection oven";)

soma January-22nd-2003 09:17 AM

it was soo cold that my drivers doors lock actually froze(and i didn't even wash my car)....It took alot of lock deicer to unfreeze it so that it could close:( But yeah, its still -44

Sir Nuke January-22nd-2003 09:28 AM

WELL LETS SEE.....its NOW 50 degrees F outside...and going to get up to about 60 today.....short sleeve weather.....no white stuff in sight....unless you open up the deep freeze and take a peek inside....

now try climbing around a refinery when it's 40C:D

it's not too bad, every enclosed building has AC and we had water out the ying-yang.

i have trouble with extreme heat but i only got sun-stroke once working last time. not counting the vicious sun-burn i got when i went snorkelling.

i can't wait to snorkel again. the red sea kicks ass!!

Nice! I'd love to go back and see the the city again after so many years.

If u are in need of beverages of the illegal kind, do like we did:

15 litres of grape juice
1/2 cup of yeast
4 cups of glucose

mix in a platic garbage pail

let sit for 4-6 weeks (don't mind the smell)

Filter into Jerry Cans (used for fuel)

and enjoy  :) :cookoo: :( :barf:

Makes for a good paint stripper too...

alcoholiday January-22nd-2003 11:40 AM

:D

i've heard the stories of the guys that were stationed there on long-term jobs getting into the home made hooch.

apparently, behind closed doors, the saudis get into the cid (moonshine essentially) quite a bit too. but shhhh, that's on the low down.:)

yanbu itself is pretty dirty and dusty, but the royal commission (what used to be the ex-pat compound) by all the petroleum facilities is beautiful.

ZoomZoomH January-22nd-2003 11:59 AM

moonshine? do they smuggle it around in an orange Dodge Charger with a confederate flag on top of it

It was about -25 or so today, here in Lindsay today, thats with wind. I think last night though, the low was around minus 30 or 35. Not bad but cold enough for me. I still think its the right weather for cold beer.

Dermen January-22nd-2003 05:48 PM

Our weather has been extremely warm this year. A couple of days ago it was above freezing. Its about 10 F (-12 C) out right now. Usually around this time of year it is -20 F (-29 C)or more. The coldest weather I can remember in Alaska was -40 F. I'm sure sometime in the next month we will get screwed over with -20 weather.
