Cool Hello everyone

I was searching for Protege info and came accross this forum and liked how it was set up so im here to stay. Hope to learn alot from everyone and hopefully i can contribute some also.

I am a car fanatic who loves to race (road course & auto X) and make the nut behind the wheels a better driver. I just purchased my 01 ES 5spd a month ago (0% financing/4yrs!!!) and have 700 miles on it already. Im still taking it easy and breaking it in so i have not had the chance to ring it out yet. I plan on getting some kuhmos V700 tires for auto X and hopefully cleaning up on the local competition next season. he he

Hope to hear from everyone.

Thanks Jessie, nice to see another auto Xer (nice pic) here. Im used to rear wheel drive in auto X the last year with my M3 but but used to have a 99 SVT contour that i auto X with. Was fun but the quality and service was poor so i finally got sick of it and traded it in on the ES. It will be a change to go back to FWD again but im looking forward to it. Is there anyone else here who auto X there 2001 ES? Would like to know what class they are in and what mods they have done. Im looking at getting some Kuhmo V700s and some lightweight wheels to use.

Happy motoring

TheMan, you're so lucky, I got the damn Potenzas stock, and while a lot of people like them, I can't stand them, although they're good when it's raining, it's easy to go into corners sideways sliding......
Wish I had the Dunlops

I went thru 2 sets of kuhmos on my M3 and 1 set on the SVT tour and really feel they are a great tire for auto X (cheap too) and road course although a bit heavy. I hate to thrash my stock street tires anyways plus Jessie is right about the 4 sec. less time using the kuhmos.
Only thing im worried about is rolling my ES. It seems a tad high. I saw a focus roll at last years regionals Dothan AL. The driver was well experienced too winning 2nd in his class the year prior in a Civic. I hate to have to put springs on this car (even though i think it would look great) because i want to stay as stock as possible for auto X. Im hoping that the Focus was an isolated incident. Oh well i guess thats what insurance is for. he he

Darryl, once you do your first event you will be asking when the next one is. Its highly addictive, like great sex.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHHA

NOTHING WILL BE AS GREAT AS SEX but racing is a VERY close second....next to winning the lottery Blue

Although, sex can be postponed till the racing is over...so maybe it is as great as sex...wow what a concept....oh wait, sex while racing..uuuhhhhh nah then there be no more racing as the the wall will grab ya but then it would be just sex....unless the wall grabed more than just the car.....

ok i better stop now, this is getting outta hand

I've auto-x my '00 ES with the kuhmos this year and have controlled HS. You will NOT roll the Protégé. this car is great thur the turns. you can kick out the tail feather the gas and drift thur the turn like you have RWD.

I did like 12 races this summer and every one in the club has asked me if my car is RWD, and then they ask how do I get the back to move like that. few have taking it out for fun runs and loved how little the car is.
