Knowing how to speed is key. You can't trust the detector 100% .
Awhile back the tampa tribune printed a story saying that Flordia police don't have the man power to pull over anybody going less then 7 miles over the speed limit. So I go atleast that over.
Has anybody got a radar jammer? I was just reading about those.

I will say this, I design microwave based equipment (no not the oven stuff) for a living, and after ripping a few of these units appart to see what was inside (I could not help myself) I'm sticking with a V1. The side issue is that the added sensitivity of the unit can (and does) make it more prone to false alert.
Oh, and while I am on a soap-box... here's my 0.02 on jamming devices. The laser ones are indeed 100% legal as there is nothing on the books that says you can not transmit a light signal without special permission. That's a simple one. Now, radar jammers are a different story. They claim that they are legal as all they do is add a chirp to the incoming radar signal and bounce it back, this consfuses the doppler based calculation in the gun and the reading from the car is then crap. The only thing is that this is pretty much illegal. No, you did not source the signal... but you did change it and "re-broadcast" it. That is a no-no.
Also, think of it this way... if the cop really wants to tag you he's gonna get ya for something (reckless driving?) so why add fuel to the fire when he points the gun (which has been working all day for him) at your car and he gets crap back... one ticked off cop just looking for a reason to pull you over now.

I don't know about where you live but in Louisiana doing this is illegal. Here people do three flashes to inform others of a cop, but I know someone who saw a speed trap and flashed his high beams to warn other drivers, and it just so happens that there was an unmarked dectective car about 3 cars ahead of him. This dectective then slowed down got behind him, pulled him over and ticketed him for this. Just letting others know in case they try it.

I can't image they arrest/charge people for simply just saying, "Hey folks, there are pigs here, so behave yourself!"
