seems like it's a regional thing, perhaps? in california or at least southern california, it's toyotas mostly. however when i go up home to oregon where there are a lot of subarus (the awd, mt. hood skiing, lots of rain, snow), the subaru drivers take the burden away from toyota drivers to about 50/50.

alright, so you guys probably already know that i recently bought new rims and tires, that werent that cheap, imo.
anyways, the other day, we got a little bit of snow, so i was pissed, but luckily, it only lasted that night... so all was good.

now, last night, we got about a centimeter, and of course, the city had to salt the roads....
now my rims are covered in salt, and went to a car wash place, and hosed off my car, and washed the rims quickly with soap, then washed them off....
so i got home and looked at them, and they are covered in salt spots!!!
i took a wet rag, and tried to see if the spots would come off, and off course, they dont...
plese tell my my rims arent already destroyed!!!
like, the chrome lip is covered in water spot like spots, that wont wipe off....
if there a type of cleaner i can use for this??

i plan on washing my car the second it gets warmer out, with car soap, and all that....

but if my rims are already covered in spot, well, i cant even explain how pissed i'd be....

MY gf had a close call a couple of days ago. She hasn't driven the Speed much since I left, but she was driving it to pick up her daughter. Was on the circle freeway, it was around 5 so there was a lot of traffic where the major north-south route joins it. To compound matters there are a couple of exits close to this entrance, so people who are on the circle have to merge across the people getting on. Apparently there was an accident or something as police were right at the junction, so it was more snarled than usual. She made it past that and got in line for the third exit past the junction. There was a van behind her and she was waiting for the line to move when she heard that sickening screech of locked up wheels. Someone came up behind the van and hit them a glancing blow, then slammed into the guardrail. She always leaves space ahead of her, when she heard the noise she cut the wheel to the left and got ready to move. Then, she hears ANOTHER sound of screeching tires, and another vehicle slammed hard into the van. Somehow the person driving the van never let it move so my gf was safe. Her pucker factor was through the roof though!

I can't understand why people are in that big of a hurry to get home. It is a known bottleneck, and that exit is always backed up during that time (onto the freeway). Now a couple of people have wrecked cars at the very least. I was just relieved that my gf was okay, it would have sucked for her to get hurt while I am so far from home.

bottlenecks like that sucked... i noticed today on the way home that one of the main junctions in Atlanta on I-85 had a board telling you save exits speeds in realtime.. so you would know to slow down if needed.

my wife lost her diamond ring! good thing we had it insured... but... we had it appraised, worth $4500, told insurance we just wanted the money, wife wants to buy a cheaper ring, throw the rest on bills (told her it was totally up to her)... well insurance gets a quote from their people on what they can get a "replacement" ring for - supposedly the same quality... $3800, so they will only give us that... why do I have to pay insurance like its worth $4500, but... get $3800... make sense to anyone else?

KrayzieFox May 11, 2007 10:35 AM

Do insurance policies EVER make sense?! That sucks man, but it's good to hear you got a wife that cares about more than how big her bling bling is. If I was to marry the girl I'm going out with now, that would absolutely never happen -- the contributing towards bills that is -- all she talks about is how big of a ring she wants for her engagement. Dream on woman .. dream on.

I say get a 1k dollar ring, and buy forged pistons and rods from speedcircuit if you don't already have them :)
