I got an old beater for work and it's the best. No more turning on the vents and having sawdust fly all over the place. Grease on the carpets, bahh. I run an 84 crown vic with 299874 kms on it. I'm waiting to hit 300. I work in a sawmill and with the second car its nice to get home and go downtown in a clean car. A little harder on gas but worth it. Hiholsva said it best, "disposable cars". My old man was going to sell it for $200 bucks. I told I'd buy it if he kept it in his name. He said take it. It cost me two mufflers and a battery, plus the insurance is ony $30 bucks a month. When the mill yard is muddy I feel like one of the Duke boys driving.

I am searching my heart out for a 323 , it is frigin frustrating, I don't want another 4 door car, and I don't want a big 2 door, I found an se-r with what looks like a blown motor(piston) and although I have the mechanical skill to pull the motor down and get the block rehoned and put in HC pistons, i am not putting money into another car... (sucks) .......

I know one girl selling her 323 but it is taking her 4ever to get back to me , and I know another guy selling his ,, frigga wants 1grand,, lol yeah right ,, he won't get that ... so he is a wrap.......

I will just have to leave notes on the local 323's I guess

Obviously, you miss the point. Buy car for $500. Don't fix anything on it except for changing fluids. Drive it until something major breaks. Abandon it. :D

I've been strongly considering the idea because work is less than 3 miles from where I live, and I'm kinda uncomfortable with driving my Pro for only 5 minutes, although I only drive when the weather's bad enough that I can't ride my bike. I've been thinking of buying a beater for the commute. If the engine blows, I will throw the key and signed title onto the driver's seat and walk home. :bt:

I know someone selling a 323 for 500 , I contacted her numerous times and she contacted me , but we keep missing each other, i can never seem to set up with her to see the damn car,, I am supposed to look at a 92 civic hatch on saturday , when the lady emails me back to confirm , and I know of 91 civic hatch that a person is selling,
the civic will be an easy car to get rid of when I am ready though , that is what is so good about it .... I could probably flip it and get 1500 for it , even though I would have only paid 700 lol ... imagine that

I paid $800 for my Protege LX. 150k, all the power goodies, etc. Body in good shape, runs great. It was from a friend of mine, so I got sweet buy. Actually they were willing to sell it to anyone for $800 just because they didn't want to have to worry about haggling, and it had high miles. I paid double that for my 323, I got a shaft deal on that :(

If I didn't just dump $1500 into my 323 in rims tires and suspension, I probably would have sold it to you for $700.

Good thing about this car, is if I decide I don't want it anymore, my dad would be more than glad to take it lol ... but I used to have one an 87 ,, damn cars are bulletproof (hence why I chose to go with a vdub)... so lets see what happens...
