A graphic demonstration of a similar concept used to protect large computer monitors from fingerprints...
A friend of mine has a story from his university days. It is a common observation (of mine anyway) that the larger a computer monitor, the more likely people are to touch the face of it, leaving oily fingerprints. This problem was evident in the computer lab that sported 21" monitors on the Sun workstations. People were asked repeatedly to not touch the monitors, but would invariably forget, or ignore the request. Finally, one clever admin made signs that were attached to each monitor. Each sign read, "Please wash hands after touching monitor."
The incidence of fingerprints on the monitors dropped to almost nothing.
True story.
