I would maybe get the bumper, but why spend $250 on headlights? Why not get your self a custom exhaust system, and still have some money left over? Just a suggestion though, it is your money.

any body else have any suggestions???? or is it just jon and i that want to meet.???

new2game323 January-6th-2003 12:23 AM

I wouldn't mind driving somewhere to get to meet everyone and get some new connections through the area. My car will hopefully at least have the bumper and rims by this Spring, I'm hoping at least by mid-April to have the bumper done and get started on the rims. I think anywhere north of NY would be ok. I'm going to North Carolina Jan. 23rd through the 27th with my car to see how it does on long journeys. Anybody had any problems when driving the car 1,000+ miles in 18 hours? I'm just worried about tranny heating and engine heating issues. My Pro only has 109K so I'm hoping I won't run into any issues if I change the oil and air filter before I go.

THEGOLDPRO January-6th-2003 05:17 AM

well allright its itzkcatz, thegoldpro, and new2game that want to meet in the spring, any body else????

turbonium959 January-6th-2003 10:31 AM

I will go too, didn't you see my post?

Ian - I would check and make sure that you had at least done it once : tranny flush, and coolant flush. It is very important that you have to have it done if your car has over 100K miles on it.

Also, Ian, there is new guy here name Hypro from Blaine, ME. Is he your buddy you were talking about? What is his full name, because we already have a Joe, and it might create some confusion for me.

THEGOLDPRO January-6th-2003 01:47 PM

OK SO ITZKCATZ, THEGOLDPRO, NEW2GAME, AND TURBONIUM. thats pretty weak were gonna need more than that . i would like to see the new guys come along.

new2game323 January-7th-2003 12:52 AM

His name is Joe Bell, so hopefully that will help unless the other Joe's name is Bell too. He's got a 95 DX.

I'll have to check on the tranny flush and coolant flush, I'm sure it was done when the timing belt, plugs, and wires were replaced, but it would be a good idea to check.

Well, I should probably ask this or I won't have any clue, but how do you flush the tranny? Is there a cap on the bottom of the transmission like the oil? And where do you refill the tranny fluid once you flush it?

Another thing I was wondering is what you guys are paying for custom exhausts? All I want is a 2" pipe and a nice sport muffler for a little bit more tone and some better airflow, I don't want anything bigger cuz I don't want my car to sound like a cracked out bumblebee :(

Hypro January-7th-2003 03:40 AM

the other joe

Greetings everyone, I see I have already aquired the tag of the "other" joe. I guess I would be the newcomer to the Maine crew. I just bought a 95 Protege 5 speed. Body has 223,000 miles on it but the engine/drivetrain has a little over 70k. First Mazda I have owned and I must admit, I'm sold. I love the car. And regardless of what Ian say's, my car would smoke his!!

turbonium959 January-7th-2003 09:16 AM

Welcome, Joe. Since you guys live practically in the same town, I am sure we will be hearing a lot about you two racing. Hopefully, sometimes soon we all would be able to meet somewhere in Maine, so we all can race one another.

There is a drain plug for tranny fluid, but I would rahter get it done professionaly, because they have machines that suck all the tranny fluid from the transmission, along with all the dirt or debry that might have accumulated over time. Also, depending on where you go, you should not pay more then $50 for a tranny flush. If you drain and refill, it might help a little, though I am not sure. As for custom exhaust, you can get a high flow muffler on Ebay for about $50+, and for the catback pipes you need to visit a muffler shop that does them, and ask them how much would it cost to make the pipes (if you can put it on yourself). If you want a shop to install it all for you, it will run you about $150+.

JRizzle January-7th-2003 07:59 PM

alright, i am down for a meet in the spring, but only after i startn sportin the rims again, because theres no way in hell i am taking picture of my car without the wheels.

new2game323 January-7th-2003 10:35 PM

Speaking of rims, does anyone have a good connection on a set of 15" gold or polished aluminum rims? I can't do eBay because my ex-gf decided not to pay for any of the stuff so I got banned  . So if anyone can find a set I can spend about $350-450 w/o tires. The car would look much nicer, not that it doesn't now, but rims would add a nice effect to the car.

itzkcatz January-8th-2003 02:24 AM

I dunno about spring i work like a mad man for those first 2 and a half months. But def a early summer met and there on ... Jon 93 lx

irish6714 January-8th-2003 06:41 PM

Hey guys

I am down for the Meet. We need to get our little club off the ground. Ben we are moving to lewiston. We are moving on 25 Jan. The help will be great. Sorry I am not more active anymore. Its hard to keep up with the Baby and the keep up on here. Let me know

turbonium959 January-8th-2003 09:56 PM

I think we are getting off the ground pretty good right now. With 11 people and growing we should have a good meet in the spring within our own club, let alone joining with CT people. I will be updating the website this weekend, so those of you who do not have on the website, get them to me, thanks.

new2game323 January-8th-2003 10:03 PM

I need to hurry and get a digicam so I can take a pic of my car. It looks like sh*t right now because of the salt and calcium on the roads, bad thing about having black cars. But I think we're getting off to a good start, at least we have double digit people. I would like to get some kind of emblem, I don't really like the big stickers, but something small would be nice to represent a little bit :-) You know, since there's so many Mainers who get into Mazdas and all. :D It would be nice to get a pic of everyone's car together to see all the different generation and year changes.

THEGOLDPRO January-9th-2003 12:55 PM

joe ill check my schedual, and see if im not working, but if im off i will be there. im glad to see new2game is getting involved, i look forward to meeting you. im still trying to coordinate something with the ct guys, but haven't really heard much from them. ill keep you all updated. and hypro, where do you live??? and are you going to attend the meet we have in the spring??

THEGOLDPRO January-9th-2003 01:00 PM
