Sup guys...I just bought a Mazda 3 S 2.3 Hatch and I LOVE it. I eventually want to put a turbo on it..as well as all the other mods
Ok...here are my questions:
1) What are the differences in the engines of the 2.3 Mazda3 S and the Mazdaspeed 3?
2) Does the 2.3 M3 S have the DISI technology?

There are numerous differences in the engines.
1. DISI engine is Direct Injected and turbocharged
2. Slightly lower compression ratio
3. Forged rods, crank and coated pistons
4. Different fueling pessures
5. DISI has 2 fuel pumps
The 2.3 Duratec in the 3S is very capable of making good power. I've seen a few aftermarket turbo's in the 500-550whp range with no problems.

Ok...so there are some big differences here. I thought they just slapped a turbo on there and called it quits So its pretty much a built up turbo charged version of my motor. Anyway....you said over 500 horses just from turbo?? There has to be other mods to get that kind of HP out of that 2.3 . I know the basic mods...CAI, Exhaust, Headers etc. But what other mods are out there that would give you a 500 HP Monster 3???

I've seen a non-turbo 2.3 with over 400hp
.. but yeah it wouldn't be driveable on the streets AT ALL. 0 power until 7k rpms.
It's nice that stock the 2.3 is a nice strong engine, even nicer that they beefed it up nicely for the MS3/MS6/CX-7
