2.3L headers...do they exist?

So I was looking at the magnaflow exaust system for the 2006 mazda 3 hatchback but i got to thinking that some headers would be another nice addition to my engine...

the problem is that i cant find any headers that fit the 2.3L engine. Vibrant make a set but its for the 2.0L engine

does anybody know who makes headers for the 2006 mazda 2.3L engine?

2.3 and 2.0L are the same block. A header will fit either.

Is that why they call it a 'header'? J/K...yeah, that's what I meant.

Well, Thunder just markets the 3 header for the Focus, since in Taiwan the
Focus really is a Mazda except for some of the bodywork. I really don't know if
it would fit your car. My initial thought is that the flange will fit but the real
issue is going to be the hard-pipe section. Is the chassis identical? If it is
then the exhaust will probably bolt up the same way.

If I could snap up a used one for you to try out would you be interested?
My original header tester from a few years ago wants to test/review the
new version. If I can swing a deal with him, I'll take his old one back. If
it fits your car, I'd give you a heckuva deal.
It'd be a month or so to get it all done.

I bought and installed a custom fabricated 4-1 Header from a small start-up company named "F2 USA" The owner doesn't have enough time to split between his custom built Focus and Mazda track race cars and the new business, but he has always returned my emails or calls within a week. If you don't mind doing biz with a new outfit, you'll find the build quality to be excellent and the price even better. Though there aren't many Header options out there for the M3s or I, I've found it to be the best performance upgrade I've made. Happy Hunting...

Vibrant makes them...just don't go with OBX like I did...Either way you go, you will get a CEL (or at least I did) with obx or vibrant because you are eliminating the cat converter. Vibrant comes with a "O2 re-location kit" basically comes with extended wires to place after your first resonator. Even that doesn't work or at least i've heard horror stories about that cuz you have to drill a new hole and place it, then if a lot of time you'll still throw a CEL, one it will say slow response because the wires are longer than usual so it takes longer for the impulse, or two, you'll get a code, "Catalytic efficiency below threshold"

SO, if you get the header keep your stock one for emissions because you'll be needing to swap them out...

Yes, It makes the care HELLA louder when you remove the cat and a resonator and use a glass pack like i did and mixed with "Monzta's timing Mod" it does add a nice boost.

Problem with the timing mod mixed with the headers is you have to use Premium fuel otherwise you knock...(I do anyway) Some people say it works fine some get knocking, personally I think its the luck of the draw.

One last thing, with those two mods, I saw a HUGE decrease in gas mileage, say about 17-18 city/22-25 highway...stock I was running about 23 city/27 highway...basically I'm lucky to get 250 miles out of a tank shifting under 3k easy stops and go's

Cool headers

well there's alot of headers out there for the 2.3L engine like Obx, vivrant an p5 but all of them have a problem an the problem its that all of them will give u a check engine light on im a mechanic/Tuner so what i recomment u to do its to get the Obx headers but dont buy the cat-delete just buy the masda3 test pipe that will eliminate ur check engine light on or just buy a high flow cat that works to

heres my Mazda 3 hatchback sport mods
-F5 Fujita cold air intake
-AEM fuel rail
-AEM fuel regulator
-450cc rc fuel injectors
-Obx Headers with mazda3/mazdaspeed3 test pipe
-HKs hi flow cat-back exhaust
-JDM voltage stabilizer
-Pulstarplugs
-An running on a racing fuel mixture 106 octane

so far im satisfy with mods on my mazda 3 plus i just had a dyno run an my car pulled 238hp an 217 lb-ft of torque so if eny one needs help modifying ur mazda3 up just ask 4 eny question an il be glad to help an i will post the dyno sheets up

So on some websites it says that the vibrant header can come with either a test pipe or a high flow cat converter, is this true? I need to keep my cat converter but wanted a vibrant header if possible
