I have an 06 Miata and really like the car but HATE the seats. I've rented a couple of MAZDA3's and really liked their seats. I'd like to look into getting a seat from a 3 and putting it in the Miata. What I'm wondering is if the seat airbags would be compatible between the cars. The Miata's seat connector is a large white square box about 1.5 inches across by 2.5 inches long. There is a grey lever the opens to allow the outer box on the seat to separate from the inner box on the car. Can someone that has side airbags look under their seat to see what the connector looks like. Thanks.

I'd worry about fitment before the airbags. I'm not sure about MX-5s, but it's pretty tough to find a seat that fits in a 89-02 Miata.

 

I've set a seat from a completely different car (Nissan NX2000) in the car and if the rails were swapped it could work. So I think there may be enough space, but I need to figure out how to make the airbag work too.
