Does using C1 oil instead of C3 oil, cause engine/dpf issues ?
Does using C1 oil instead of C3 oil, cause engine/dpf issues ?
Hi all,
Hope you can help me.
I’ve recently done my first oil change since buying my (first ever) mazda 3, 2.2 diesel, sport Nav, sky active (2015) and have gone with the 5w30; i went with the ultra dpf one from mazda.
I noticed that since my dpf regens happen a bit more frequent, nothing crazy but noticeable; previously it used to be around 130 miles before the regen happened and now 115 miles.
I’ve dug into this a bit more and it seems that in the spec for my mazda it says that a C3 oil needs to be used. The oil that the mazda dealer recommended and sold to me is C1.
Now I am worried that it may damage the dpf/engine etc. should I change to C3? Will it cause significant damage if changed in a few months for example?
Any thoughts , info is greatly appreciated 🙏🏻
