my question is...the icon(car with a key in the middle) for disarming/arming theft derrent system is it supposed to flash constantly when the car is parked? I'm asking cause today is the first time that i have seen this happen. i'm second guessing myself but i could swear that it was never like that before. does anyone know about this?

 

I've got an 05 and mine flashes non stop when the car is off and the key is out. Sound normal to me.

It's red to scare the bad, car stealing people away

it flashes when i remove the key from the ignition of my '06.

 

Ye, it flashes all the time when the key is not in the ignition. I think it is explained inthe owners manual

 

Yeah its supposed to do that, you can read about it in the front of your manual...It is a little confusing though.

 

It flashes because of your vehicle anti-theft system (VATS). The vehicle will not be able to start without reading the key in the ignition. It flashes because it does not see the key in the ignition. This is normal.
