Ive a 2000 Protege' The battery idiot lite is on. I checked the voltage of the battery and it was 11.50 volts. I cleaned the terminals and before charging the battery back to full. The battery light went off. (not because the terminals were disconnected when I looked) But after reconnecting them.
Prior to doing this. Besides the battery light coming on. The low fuel light also was lite. There's a 1/4 tank of gas in it. After charging the battery. The fuel gauge registered a 1/4 tank again. now there's a full charge on the battery and that darn lite is lit again. Is there checks I can do without going to the hi priced dealership? Or is there a known problem of false warnings with this model.
