so is the nx kit a good buy....almost everyone here has the zex kit

nick June-6th-2002 10:49 AM

How much NOS you running? What are your other mods?

That is a awesome time! Well done!

Get wider tires and some stiffer motor mounts and you might drop some time from the launch.

definatly, definatly recommend an NX Kit. I've heard horror stories of the Purple Bottle, it works sometimes, then it doesnt, someting leaks, and so on. I know alot of people that have switched over, NX requires no timing retard either. Unless you wanna run a bigger shot.

Im spraying a 50 shot right now, i could easily put a 75 shot, but i was waiting on a clutch, and now that I blew out my clutch, the 75 is on the way, lol, along with the new clutch :D

the only other mods are: removing of the resonator intake box, and a K&N Drop-In Filter, and of course 1 step colder NGK's. Other than that and the stereo system, my car is pretty stock, well at least the engine looks bone stock ;) hehehe, soliniod under the battery, you cant see anything

oh, my best run off of the bottle was 17.1, I think Road &Track or someone like that got a 16.8 out of it, oh well.

Just a quick question. I have a 2002 ES/GT. I have a K&N Drop in and a catback exaust and that is all for performance mods. I want to put a 50 shot of NOS in for some "HP in a bottle". I think it is about $750-$1000CDN after install? What other mods would i need to put in to make it safe for the car wearwise? New clutch i take it? Fule system upgrades? TIA!

Patio June-8th-2002 02:53 PM

I had the same question when i got my car

but Im only doing a 50 for now, once i get a better clutch i'll jet it for a 75. We dropped some colder NGKs in there and thats about it really.

I paid 700 total, but thats hook up price. I highly recommend an NX Kit Wet Shot, its loads of fun to feel your engine come to life when you flip the switch.

oh yeah, it turns out it wasnt my clutch, so the stock clutch will hold up for a while on a 50 until you feel it slippin of course

The Fuel System is fine the way it is.

the times kept going lower each time i went down the track, but then so did my bottle pressure :(, I ran out when i was getting good at launching

this was full interior, spare, subs, seats, all inside. I like bumpin and being comfortable when going down the track, and you never know when youll get a flat down the 1/4:laugh:

WOW! $700CDN after install and everything! NICE! I know my next mod after i finnish the system. Thanks for the help. That link was very informative.

Into the 15's soon baby!

So you have the switch, as in you hit the switch and it goes untill....when you release the gas i guess?

My friend has a 00' Si with a 50 shot of NOS and he has it set to the revs. I never really understood it, does that mean the car will not let the NOS go untill you are reving higher than 3000?

Im worried about killin the car because once NX is in...no more warranty........

the motor will hold the Nitrous, its only a 50 shot, 75 shot wont be a problemo :)

75, into the 14s baby!!!!!!!!!:D

Makaveli June-9th-2002 11:53 PM

SpeedRacer, it's not 700CDN, I think he's talking US dollars

traffik June-25th-2002 04:48 PM

I dont mean to rant
but I think that nitrous is cool, but with 700$ I would rather get a port and polish or a flywheel AND pistons!
At least you cant run out of power with those mods , you can use the power benefits all the time and you dont have to worry about filling a bottle....on top of that, those mods give you power from the start and not only at a certain rpm range....

IMO:D

I'm not sure which purple bottle you're referring to (my NOS bottle is blue), but if you do mean NOS, there's a couple things that aren't quite right. You don't need to retard any timing to run less than about a 100 shot. NOS, ZEX, etc. is all the same in that regard. Typical retard is 1 degree per 100 shot. Also, I'm not sure what gap you're running on the NGKs, but you should have them gapped down a bit. I am running a 6 heat range on my FS (NGK V-Power #BKR6E-11), gapped down to .035. I should have some track times on the bottle soon. I'll probably put them up on here just for information's sake. Good luck. :)

Pigeon July-18th-2002 01:35 AM

actually it is recommended to kick back your timing a degree or 2 with a 50 shot

you dont NEED to do it, but it gives you somewhat of a cushion of leeway if say youre running on a really hot day where bottle pressure is up and intake air temp is up
