Orange Turbo P5 To Hit Dealers Mid July
 

I was down at my dealer today (Sunridge Mazda, and these guys move ALOT of P5's) and found out that Mazda will be building limited edition, Turbocharged Orange Protege 5's, due in dealerships mid-July. My dealer will be getting the only two in Calgary, so I think I may have to put in my chit early if I decide to get one! Sounds like they'll be rare!

That's all I was "allowed to hear" but if anyone else out there has any information on this car, I'd be forever appreciative. These guys aren't ones to lie either, so pleae don't anyone get all fired up at me.

Well I live in Vancouver, BC, and there was a big Protege meet up here at one of the dealerships (sponsors for www.mpsport.net). Anyways one of the salesman, got us aside, and explained the future of Mazda, and yes, he also mentioned that it is a Orange Protege.

Yes, PROTEGE, not a Protege5. And he was pretty CLEAR with us that its going to be like the MP3 (but not called the same). But its going to be based on the Sedan.

I too have seen the Orange MP3 type Protege, but my dealer was very clear that there were two orange, Protege 5's on their way in July.

Everything that Gujustud said is true, and plus there will be only 250 available in Canada from what I heard somewhere, forgot who mentioned it. He also said that they're thinking about bringing in a turbo protege AWD to compete with the WRX.... but that's not for sure

do we have any specs on tehse cars?

will we be able to buy the callaway kits for our car, and will the orange Pros have intercoolers?

Well from the details the salesguy had given us, is that lots of the specs are up in the open right now. Mazda is toying with different idea's, for what they are goin to release which is good. I think they're keepin an eye on whats being released by other companies out there, and then will release something to compete against. Sure, its a cat/mouse game, but I think Mazda will pull away...

were going to need a second car soon. (sick of the beater:D )

Three options I see... Turbo Protege, Protege6, or the Mini Cooper S. (anyone have experience with the RSX-S, seems nice but crappy tires) Or keep the POS for bad days and buy the Honda F4 I've been looking at. (just @ the Honda site and they make it in yellow again!)

Richard, the 200 hp Miata will have a V6? Or maybe I'm just smoking something.... I think I recall the mazda guy mentioning that. Orange could be an all rite colour, depends what kind of orange it is...... if it's the darker kind......

the Mazda Atenza is Called 'Mazda 6' in US.... There is no such thing as a 'Protege 6'... :D

I also wonder if it will have an intercooler. They may not, just because it'll be low boost and cheaper. If it does, it'll probably be similar to the IC on the eclipse; tucked in the front corner of the bumper. Although, the new neon does have a front mount IC.

Can someone tell me if a water intercooler is better (more efficient/practical) than a FMIC?

God I hope this doesn't make me regret buying my P5 last week. Even the AWD would be freaking sweet, but the extra hp to boot.

I wouldn't want to trade in my P-5....but would CERTAINLY be interested in knowing if the pieces parts will all be available through the dealer or as some sort of upgrade kit to retro-fit our 2.0's with the turbo.....THAT is the real question.

cyberglitch....you would be amazed at how many THOUSANDS of dollars they would gig you for.....probably cheeper to retro fit your p-5 with the turbo...AND have a dealer do all the work!

Yea I know. I wouldn't trade mine in either, that was a joke. I know they would try to rip me a new one on trade in for practicly the same car. Although like everyone else I will cross my figures and toes and hope for future upgrades for my current stock P5.

I would trade my P5 in a heart beat if I thought I wasn't going to drown from being upside down. If you haven't driven a high HP FWD, that would explain your lack of enthusiasm about the AWD. I LOVE my eclipse, and wouldn't trade it for almost any car, even if it was faster. I love it, love it, love it, but would trade my GS-T for a GS-X any day of the week without a seconds thought. If I could get into an AWD wagon sleeper from hell, that would be even more fun than the eclipse. I'd be on that like white on rice.

Looks ok but i like my classic red still! except the fact winter (in shit ass salt and gravel all over the road SK) has decided to come back for a while and im obsesing trying to keep it clean GRRRRRR

well.....i guess its a personal preferance....I LOVE my yellow....and a lot of guys at work think I am nuts....well they are right...but NOT because I baught a vivid yellow car! lol :D

I like the yellow as well i have just always wanted a red sports car so i went red.

For me there were really only 3 colors but hey we all have different taste so thats why they make different colors.

I was looking on the New Zealand web site yesterday and they have a green and a champange to chose from as well, i think orange belongs on old mopars and maybe a few others.

If this all comes to fruition, i am interested to see the shade, could make all the difference in the world.

Last thing! are you going to do some paint to yours ?? or maybe the wifes with flames ??

NOPE.....I like the outside NICE AND CLEAN....you can only be so inconspicous with a Vivid Yellow car....but.....I like it went unsuspecting people underestimate me.....I need all the advantage I can get till a turbo or something of that sort comes along for us.......so no need to put the impression that I have a hotrod out there.....

and My Wifes is HERS.....and she doesn't really want me doing ANYTHING to it other than helping her keep it clean! lol :D

Fair enough just wondering i am contemplating ghost flames at some point but was hoping to see some first, there is another thread about this one, just thought i would ask :-)
