ok, dave... that's it... what's your address? what color house? where's the keys? ah, screw that... i don't need the keys... i'll be stealing your car soon ;D no, but seriously, youve asked if we're interested in the 1.6 manifolds.. what about a kit? that shit looks insanely good. i'm definately interested after seeing this. when is it going to be done? what is this guy charging for the manifold or kit (please, a kit? :))

Interested in turboing your 1.6L

They guy manufacturing my manifold is named Andrew Wagner from York, PA. He runs a huge fabrication shop and also runs Wagner Motorsports a Forced Induction specialty race car fabrication shop. He will be launching he web site today hopefully and will have tons of info. Right now we are looking at making manifolds on a one by one basis for the 1.6L Gen3. If and when someone takes him a 2.0 he'll have a jig for the 1.8 and 2.0 Gen3s. By the end of next week Andrew and I well have an idea of how much and what he'll be offering and post it here. So keep checking back on how the project is going.

right on, thanks a lot David. I'll definately be keeping an eye on this thread. That's cool that he's gonna do it on a 1by1 basis. That makes it a lot easier for those of us who can't just fork over a couple grand right away. :) If you're satisfied with the performance of your setup, i'll be giving him a call myself.

btw, is he going to be dyno'ing it for you once installed?

Tunning and dyno

Once Andrew is done installing the turbo, manifold, header, oil lines, intercooler, piping, BOV, fittings for EGT and Boost gauge, TubroXS boost controller, and heat shields I'll be taking it to www.extrememotorsports.com and letting Rob Mckaller dyno and tune it. Don't know exactly how much boost I'll be running at first cause we have not decide on what type of fuel enrichment to run. Rob who engineered the system seems to think a Apexi AFC will handle things fine for a boost range of 3-9psi. I'll keep you posted at this thread on the progression of things.

That is VERY nice. At this very moment I am drueling (spelling?) all over my keyboard from just looking at your car. I cant wait to see how it turns out. Good luck!

Dave, One thing....what did he make the manifold out of? Cause if its mild steel its going to crack trust me I know from Experience. If its 304 Stainless it will crack you need at elast 321 stainless for a thin wall runner like that. Make sure thats what he is using or you will hear a nice PPPPPSSSSSTTTTT sound in about 2 days of running it.

so that's what you've been up to lately.....

oh man! I can't wait to see that car in action!!!! :bt:

Manifold mateial? The guy manufacturing the manifold has been fabricating turbo systems and parts for about ten years now to include three Dodge Darts he currently owns and runs as daily drivers between him and his brothers with the same 1/2" stainless steel and pipe that he is using on my header and two Intergras that he is also working on right now. Plus there will be several hours of testing and QC work done before I take it out driving around town or racing.

For those with questions or concern about the availability of a kit

This is a project for me by Andrew of Wagner Motorsports and we are not developing kits we are just custom turbo charging my car and if someone else (1.6L GEN3)wants a manifold the jig is available now for others if they want one made. If someone wants a manifold made for 2.0 they need to take the car to Andrew and he'll make it and then there will be a jig for everyone else that wants a manifold for 2.0. If you want a complete system you need to take the car to Andrew and he will install everything but you must do the engineering and decide which turbo you want ic, BOV, etc. If you just want a manifold using the same turbo I used he can make you one. If you can take him the car along with the turbo, IC, BOV, boost controller he can make the manifold, the pipes, run the oil lines, and fit the piping other than that it up to you to tune it an engineer what you want. If you want a complete ready to bolt in kit see Tri-point or Bell and pay $4k. My system comes from half a year of research to find someone reliable to build the manifold as I engineered the system myself and obtained all the parts minus the piping for the manifold, ic, and intake. Which is the cheapest way to do things and that's the reason I'm even doing this project any way is that I enjoy working on my own car. I would have made the manifold myself if I had the equipment to do it but I don't. And as a courtesy to other Protégé owners I and Andrew are offering a manifold. It’s up to you to engineer it and install it or be willing to shell out big bucks for someone else to do it and maintain it.

I'll have pics of the all the piping soon.

WOW. Is this custom!????
