NOS need help
OK First off this is my first NOS install. I have a 2k ES w/1.8 auto
and I got the Nos all hooked up accept I haven't tapped the fuel line yet. My ? is where do I tap it on a protege. I don't know anyone with a Pro that has finished there nos yet. I was told the safest place is to tap it in the fuel return. Is that true? And also Im a nos newbie an I don't know if i have a wet or dry kit because I bought the kit from my friend and he dosen't remember. Do you tap the fuel with a dry kit? Thanks |
sorry 1 more ?
For a 50 shot what size jets do i need for fuel and N2O?
Thanks |
NOS Answers
Yes you have a wet kit if you have a second solenoid for the fuel. Hence the names Wet= with fuel Dry=No fuel
Go down to your local store that fills NOS bottles and they can give you a chart to tell you approximate shots. You can adjust from there. Get an Air Fuel Ratio guage to watch over whats happening. You will need a colder range plug too. I cannot tell you where to tap into the line but would recomend getting another opinion for that one. Let me know when you do b/c I have been toying with the idea and I ahve a wet kit in the garage. Kyle Lancaster *1979 RX7 *2002 Protege5 *2004 RX8 waiting...... |

For a 50 shot what size jets do i need for fuel and N2O? 35 shot= N20 31 + fuel 18 50 shot= N20 35 + fuel 20 75 shot= N20 41 + fuel 24 I am running a Nitrous Express Wet Kit! 50 shot!! :D That's the best i can tell u...i had the kit professionally installed..! Nice Car!!:p |
thanks
Thanks no flame felt I understand where your comin from. But the only thing that screws up a NOS install is not askin for help.
I got 2degree colder ngks and a stoche meter. I was always told that you don't have to retard the timing unless you go above a fifty shot. I went to a well know NOS expert around here and he gave me a 59 fuel and a 23 N20 and I 'm running a NOS nitrous system. As far as wet or dry I had a brain storm after i posted an decided to go to NOS nitrous .com and figured out that both wet and dry tap into fuel but the wet has that xtra soleniod and have a fuel line that taps into the intake with the N20. I glad you showed me that chart cause I would of put what i had in. Funny thing is the pros couldn't show me how hook up the relay. I had to figure it out. Thanks guys Tim |
i have done 2 n20 installs (well i re-installed it twice on my car) and i got to say unless you know exactly what your doing, get some damn directions or let the pros do it.
|
ok
Ok well since you've done 2 installs are you a pro? did you do the first 1 by yourself? Why didn't you let the pros do it?
I just asked a question and if you have N20 on your P5 then where did you tap your fuel line at. I've gone to the Pro's and since everything is done accept for that they don't wanna spend time and figure it out with me. They just say they don't know. Thats why I'm postong I figure I'd get alittle help. But anyway if some 1 knows please post. Thanks |
There should be a test port located on the fuel rail. Take the schrader valve out, and attach the fitting to the rail. That's your fuel supply, if the kit your running is a "wet" manifold kit.
If it's dry, then you'll need to buy something like Kenne-Bell's Boost-A-Pump to get the fuel pressure up under nitrous use. What kit do you have? |
I have a dry NOS Nitrous (Holly) Kit.
And I was told by a local speed shop to tap it in the fuel line comin off the fuel rail by the intake plenium. But they weren't sure. Thanks Tim |
Im not sure if Protege are returnless, if they are. The you need the Kenne-Bell Boost-A-Pump or take the kit back and get a wet manifold kit.

drill and tap the fuel rail. i will try to post a pic later of my setup. u cannot cut the fuel and t it. it has a liner inside the fuel line and when u install the t it will push the liner inside and restrict the fuel coming in. i have done both.

NOS need help
I have an NX 50hp kit in my 2001 Protege ES.I had my kit installed by someone else. For the fuel, they tapped into a fuel line right under my intake. It's located between the engine and the battery, right under the intake tube.I hope this helps.
