I wish I was closer cause your product looks awesome!! I'm sure you would prefer to install the system yourself but do you have any eastern distributors or similar? If not do you know of any reputable shops out this way I coudl check out?

I'm not sure I would trust the install to my local mechanic and I know I don't have the knowledge for it.

Any help appreciated.

i'm wondering the same thing....

If you have a good asorment of wratchets, combination wrenches, a set of drill bits and jack stands you can do the install yourself.

I had never even changed the oil before installing the kit but with the tech support offered I was able to get the system up and running.

you sound convincing but I just read an article in a mag where they detailed "Turbo Motor Meltdown". Maybe in this case too much information was not good It scared me into not wanting to consider my own install. It discussed an install gone wrong

I'm not afraid to blow my warranty out the window I just want to minimize to possible aftershocks

Also apart froma new clutch will I be looking at modifying the engine internals to handle the new power?

Tornado = tuning newb

the begi kit/flymiat kit doesn't rquire internal upgrades. I am running the full 8 PSI with no engine problems. The most you'll need is a better exhaust which I still don't even have. Most of the time I hear of melt downs its becuase of a overly complicated system that was never properly designed. This kit is simple complete and by the time you'll will be able to get one, more capable then mine.

Our Miata kits are designed to be easily installed by a reasonably competent mechanic, and the Protege kit should be no different. We're also available on the phone to help out if needed.

No internal mods will be required at 8 psi, and so far the stock clutch is holding up. A better exhaust will give more power and faster spoolup.

The best way to blow up your engine is to start telling yourself "Well, it's pretty fast at 8 psi. I'll try 10. No, 12!" - especially if you don't have the necessary fuel/timing upgrades to handle it.

With respect to the Canadians - well, I'll be back in the Ottawa area in late April for a bit We have four authorized installers for the Miata kits around the US, but only one for the Protege at the moment (Texas). The best thing to do would be to find a good mechanic locally and give them the instructions to see what they think. The Protege install is not a difficult one. The only turbo-specific work is the tuning itself, and we can help do that remotely.

All of the information will be on our website once the info becomes available. We'll have the instructions online so you can figure for yourself if you can handle it. The Miata instructions are online on the Flyin' Miata site - the System 4.2 is the closest to the Protegé system, but the oil return is different along with a few other details. The Protege is an easier install - this is basically to give you an idea of what the instructions are like.

Flyin' Miata turbo installation instructions

The first turbo install I did was at home with a couple of friends helping out. No exotic tools were required.

Now that is frickin cool. Will they be a reseller also? (Already planning a very enjoyable weekend trip). Be more fun than paying to have it shipped.

Getting excited.
Already set-up a savings account that automatically deducts from my paycheck for this turbo.

The turbos will be shipped from here no matter what. If you order one to be installed in Texas, it'll still come from Colorado. Shipping should be a flat charge no matter where you are in the lower 48.
