Connecting Rod broke...
Here are the details:
http://www.mazdamp3.com/vbb225/showt...threadid=14485 Here is a video of a similar occurance...: PRO 5's Engine go Boom clip I heard the same sound from the engine...I was only going about 43-40 MPH though.. |
aww crap!! that sucks man :(
|
How does the Rod get through the crank to go through the oil pan? That's some rough stuff. That video is terrible, the sound of blowing a motor like that is agonizing.
|
damn the crinches in my neck ,,, that did not sound right , and for it to go at almost 120 mph .............
|
Yeah, my car made that sound at 40 MPH...:(
By the way, I have ordered my Pauter Rods. Good for 30 PSI (of course I am not crazy enough to even strive for that in my Protege! ) |
man i'm terribly sorry to hear your bad luck. nice to see that you aren't giving up.
are you getting a new short block? if you're upgrading the rods maybe you could look into forged pistons as well? |
Do you think this had to do with your engine swap or some previous knock problem. Why not rebuild the engine almost bullet proof instead of just the rods, therefore you won't have a problem later.
|
I already ordered my new FORGED rods from Flyin Protege. Here they are: http://www.Pauter.com . They had 4 sets in stock! I probably won't consider pistons due to the fact that I don't plan on upping the boost that much. I just want some reliability in a moderately fast daily driver. Besides, I probably cannot afford the pistons also right now. With the expansion properties of forged pistons, I would rather stay with the stock pistons.

simple solution
grind your crank to honda specs
use high strenghth honda rods and pistons deck hieght is almost the same i am not a honda fan but mazda custom rods are expensive and not reliable yet from 2002 pro5 monster with 440hp |
Forged Rods and Pistons!
I now have my Pauter Rods, and have ordered my JE forged pistons. I will be back with a vengence! http://www.protegemp3.com/vbb225/ima...lies/laugh.gif
Here are the details of the Rods: Pauter Rod Thread Here are the details on the Pistons: JE Piston Thread More to follow.... |
awesome. that sounds like a nice bottom end. are you getting a metal headgasket? are you staying with the stock redline? what are you doing about the fuel system?

Originally posted by nickkaranikas note: stop knocking something you haven't tried you have been proven WRONG already by the fact that honda rods are at LEAST 2mm longer than the stock mazda FS rods... put it simply, it's impossible to fit We'll shut up when you show every piece of tangible evidence that you have done all of this shit and got "440hp" |
Re: Connecting Rod broke...
|
there is a recomendation i can make to you if your going to do that
or if you havent done it already o-ring the block while you have it apart and use the stock gasket |
listen shit head do some more math and research and find out HOW i did it
instead of trying to prove i didnt then maybe ill tell you curious goerge also 2mm is not the magic number here later from monster pro 5 with 440hp! |
you look real smart calling someone a "shit head"
we ALL did the math you presented in the "msp reverse problems" thread... they don't compute... your numbers are WRONG... your "combination" of parts from other cars also show you know nothing about engine building.... you sound like someone from thomas knight... all of your claims defy logic...it's not a matter of "trying" or not if i see ONE MORE post from you talking about your "monster pro5 440hp", your ass is banned Originally posted by nickkaranikas listen shit head do some more math and research and find out HOW i did it instead of trying to prove i didnt then maybe ill tell you curious goerge also 2mm is not the magic number here later from monster pro 5 with 440hp! |
banned from this club? is that supposed to be the end of the world ?
any way you were so busy analizing the mods that you didnt even read the end of the post! for someone with your "knowledge" you couldn't figure out theres more to it than that thats including jesse and the rest of your cult followers all you did from the begining is try to disprove without hearing the outcome of my trials to reach that goal all this time i waited to hear something positive come from you but nothing just as a hint for next time why dont you wait untill the end of the book to judge instead of reading a chapter and think your allmightiness knows what is coming next!! you all did the math?? thats a joke you picked apart details of a mod list which clearly said to be cont. i set a goal for 450 hp i got it and you cant handle it then you say i dont have any idea about engine building? this honda/mazda hybrid was started 3 years ago in drag racing by a company in california now if your smart enough youll figure out which 1100hp vehicle will be running this year with a similar hybrid setup!!! if you got the balls let me know then ill give you the heads up on HOW the project finished succesfully |

so all of the sudden we who don't agree with anything anyone says are called "haters" huh? typical ricer speak to me
|
sorry to hear man...
|
have you guys looked at the dyno results on linux's BEGI turbo system??
|
Keep in mind that this was a mathematically estimated dyno with the Nology PDA Dyno , but nonetheless, pretty damn close to what an accual dyno would read.

Wonder if he'd ever show up to a meet... |

Linuxninga: How does the weight of the forged rods and pistons compare to the stock ones? I thought they look larger. Does this mean your low-end hp and torque are suffering from the heavier internals? Of course, at least until the boost kicks in.

Re: Re: Connecting Rod broke...
Yep... that sucks.

Originally posted by sweetprotege93 Nope what are they? Keep in mind this is higher than a Mazdaspeed dynos at, and I have raced one to prove it (of course a stock Mazdaspeed). |
I found out yesterday that my JE pistons are done, and that I may have them by the end of the week! :bigthumb:
:wee: |
Nice HP and Torque numbers :bt:. Have you run your car in the quarter mile? Or have an idea of what it would run? Man.... I want my car back! :(
|
God that chick was annoying "OOOH david Big ass smoke big ass smoke big ass smoke" someone shoot me . Glad to see your getting your parts so quick. Goodluck
