d00d that is way to gheto!, allyou need are good/high quality mid range/tweeters such as mb quart components and 2 12's and your all set! make sure they are all powered by amplifiers not your crappy head unit (even expensive head units do not have as clean a power output as good amplifiers)

well i already have Polk audio 365's 6.5" all in the doors with a kenwood 8017 mp3/cd player with a 10" bazooka sub tub that has a built in 150 watt amp...the sub tub is getting its signal from the rca outs on the HU

i dunno if that'll fit. i just measured my head rest for some 5.6" monitors (w/brackets) and the top corners won't fit flush. that is assuming both back and front hr's are the same size.
but that is an intresting idea tho...

Well, if you insist on 6x9's (Personal debate - I really like them for volume, but for SQ they kinda suck), why not just cut holes in the hatch cover and mount them like they would be in any other car? Most 6x9's are designed to work "free air" like this - I've heard varying reports about 6x9s in boxes - some good, most bad.
If you are hell-bent on putting speakers back there, those boxes are - as stated before - WAY ghetto. Cut the right holes in the cover - you can buy a new one if you change your mind.
Just my $.02

I'm not shure if this aplies to the P5 but my friend has a small hatchback (fiat palio) and all he did was cut 2 holes on the cargo cover thing and placed the speakers there. That's what most people with hatchs do here, it seems to work alright and you don't have to use those ugly boxes, it actually looks pretty clean...

Wouldn't you have to worry about the back deck rattling to all hell if you cut holes and put the speakers there? It doesn't seem that it fits real tight as it is now. I just don't think the back deck is sturdy enough for all the vibrations of speakers attached to it.

You might be right though. But until someone actually cuts into it and mounts some speakers back there, we may never know.......

If I do get a Protege Ill do it as soon as I get some money to put my all my stuff together, I bought a pair of Pioneer 6x9's 80w rms about 2 months ago for my Galant and I'm not planning to get rid of them anytime soon. The thing is that I need some serious cash for a new HU, re-wiring the entire sound system, at least 1 new amp, the install. I think itll probably be around 1k, more or less.
