tinted headlights?

Hey all-
I saw a P5 on cardomain.com that had the headlights darkened....not blackouts, but more of the smokey look....anyone know how to do this? Or where to buy the different colored lenses? The slightly darker ones look PHAT. It just seems like a mild tint to the headlight lense...

My sister's 2002 DX has these too. The headlights are very slightly smoked. They do look really nice...

One of these I'll swap my headlights for hers... I bet she would not notice the difference...

it was probably done with this stuff called nightshade... its like a spray that tints windows / headlights / whatever... i want to pull my headlight apart and put that on the mirror surface so it will have a black mirror affect in the headlight... i migtht just do the headlight itself though... haven't decided yet.

Is this legal?

here in SC, cops are tight about, well, just about every thing, except radar detectors. People get pulled for neon, neon LED on windshield spray **** on the hood, tinted front windows, all sides have to be 35% tint and back maybe 20%. They will pull you over for neon no matter what color under your car. I have friends who have gotten tickets for blackened headlights, so they have to remove them before dusk. Sucks. Is this thing considered legal or have they not caught on?

FYI: In Charleston, there is a 5 series highway patrol trooper, Z28 camaro with blue flashing neon underneath the car as well as lights flashing above. All kinds of flashy ****. They get most of the money from drug busts. The Beamer was a drug seized car converted to a cruiser. You should see the out of state people's faces when pulled over.

Blue Ledz even told me that in FL there is an undercover cop in a souped up Volks Jetta that pulls up next to ricers and revs engine. Once the victim speeds off thinking, "I showed him," he gets shown a ticket with a hefty fine!!!

That Jetta thing is ILLEGAL, its called entrapment. As long as the Jetta goes with you, cop or no cop, he is street racing as well. Also, the only illegal neon SHOULD be exposed bulbs and the colors of the police (aka-red and blue), and LEDs count as exposed bulbs.

I thought neon was now illegal no matter what color. Before I know it was red and blue because of the emergency vehicles use those colors. The guy who told me about the Jetta says that the cop just pulls beside a car and may rev the engine or that he just has a decked out looking Jetta to get people to want to race him then pulls them for racing.

Yeah, he can rev the engine, but if he launches hard, he is also considered to be "aggressively driving." Neon is still legal, how would companies like Street Glow still be in business....i dont know bout S.C., but in FL all but Blue and Red is legal. Some of my friends have had run ins with ilegal colors (red and green). Just tell the cop that you didnt know and that you will turn them off, just have an override switch under the body. If the cop sees you turn them off, he will most likely not ticket you, or even give you a warning for that matter.

here in connecticut.... and i would imagine in most states that driving with the lights on is illegal but if its for show it can be what ever color you want them to be... also if the bulb is inside the car and the cop cant see the bulb its legal (thats what i heard any way)... i know for afact if it puts a glare on eather the front or back window than its illigal...

In NE and Florida it's illegal to have any neon lighting showing in your car.......even the neon fuzzy dice since they're in the windshield. NE just passed the law a couple years ago. Notice how streetglow and other companies have the disclaimer "for off road use only" they stay in business because people still buy them even if it's illegal. It's not illegal to sell them, just to drive with them on. .......Oh, and the Jetta thing is true, he pulls up next to you, revs his engine, and when you launch he pulls you over for reckless driving. He also goes to legal drag strips during "street racing" hours to promote safe driving. There's another state that has a WRX do the same type of deal.
