Exclamation Super Bargain New speakers

Last week, I bought a set of Audiobahn 5.25" components (ABC 525x) for a mere $54.99 from www.cardiscountstereos.com
I was a little concerned about them since I didn't know much about Audiobahn (its a stupid-*** name if you ask me), but I did a LOT of research and decided to take a chance. Holy ****, I couldn't possibly be more pleased! They sound GREAT!! Anyone looking to upgrade from their crappy stock setup should definately check these out!

Are you amping them, running them straight off the stock HU, or using an aftermarket HU?

Just curious - I'm really happy with my latest door speaker purchase - last year's model of Fosgate Fanatic Q woofers - $100 online. They handle 100 watts RMS. I'm feeding them about 90 per side, and they are hooked up to my Infinity crossovers, and I'm still using the Infinity silk tweets. The Q's KICK! They really have great output and power hand;ling, and much better mid-bass than the Infinity woofers that originally came with my component set.

Audiobahn is known for making some pretty high-end subwoofers - some ppl put them down as more "flashy" than "quality", because many of the subs have polished or decorated magnets - for use inverted or with plexi-window sub boxes. Bu they do have some impressive stats. Good to know they're comps are decent, too!

Don't it feel great to buy something (especially audio components) and be perfectly satisfied with it? Wish I could feel like that more often - I wouldn't be on my third sub/amp combo already.

If you look all the time, and let the bargins be the driver, you can get some great deals that add up to mega savings. Several online stores will allow you to subscribe to specials, and then there is always E-Bay- set a low price on things as often as you can, and surprise, you will win some things for great prices.
Before my wifes illness, I had a standing components selection of close to 20K in the shop, just for systems as they would come up. Friends would get a new car, come over and we would part together a system, they would pay my cost for the hardware, contribute some sweat equity, and vavoom, we would do a install over a few six packs and some funtimes for both them and me!
Now I keep only a few thousand dollars of stuff around, mostly high end, and don't do as much playing- I am Mr. Mom to my family.
Anyway- you are right- there are great prices abound out there. It is also amazing because it show what the REAL cost of a great many components are. At the right levels in the car audio sales channel, regional distribution up mostly, the deals can be really sweet-

Unfortunately, they're straight off the stock HU for now. By year's end, I hope to replace it with a aftermarket cd/mp3/XM unit, and then add a 4 channel amp a few months after that. With that weak-*** stock HU, you can tell it undercuts the speakers at high volume.
