SilverStar Bulbs

I got these SilverStar Halogen bulbs for my headlights. Has anyone heard of these or does anyone use them? They are the "whitest" kind. I wanted to get the blue but was debating whether or not to go bright white or blue. So any suggestions and opinions are much appreciated.

Identity_X December-27th-2002 10:11 AM

are you talking about the ones made by Sylvania ?

ZoomZoomH December-27th-2002 10:38 AM

get the white bulbs, blues are TERRIBLE in the rain.

actually, white bulbs aren't too good in the rain either, stock halogens actually work the best.

ProtegePrincess December-28th-2002 12:03 AM

yea. the ones by sylvania why?

Silverstars

Bright as F@#$ Head lights I think I'LL be takin them out because everyone is flashing me thinking my hi-beams are on. A gold color light bulb is best for rain.

are they good bulbs tho. i mean i got them for x-mas and i really dont want to return them, yet i dont want to be putting shitty things on my car. im cool with bright. do they just look white or do they have a blueish tint to them?

mazdaspeedwest December-28th-2002 05:57 AM

Sylvania is a bigger company than most all of the blue bulb companies, so i'd guess quality is pretty decent. If you want the best, IMHO, then get some PIAA bulbs.

BTW, the blue bulbs are horrible in any condition. All they are are a gimmick look.

I am basing the info I am giving here on the web site from Daniel Stern about blue bulbs (it's the only somewhat "factual" site I have seen on the topic).

From what I can remember the Sylvania line of "fake blue" is the "Cool Blue" line that they carry. Those bulbs have a sl;ight blue tint but still do put out a legal light output. and those are mostly crap and do not have blue tint anyways.

The SilverStar bulbs, as billed by Sylvania/Osram, are a white high performance hallogen and not a blue light. It is one of the bulbs that is listed on Daniel's site as being an actual improvement in lighting and not a cheesy "for looks only" change.

SilverStars are good bulbs. I have the Philips VisionPlus, which are the their competitors but same type of light output. They work real well.

princess, i say u keep ur silverstars, i've seen those on their site, n they look sweet as hell. i got the cool blues in mine, i'd rather have those silverstars though. also i dont think they're crappy b/c they're made by sylvania.

Hong Kong Fever December-30th-2002 09:28 PM

Yeah, keep those Silverstars...really nice, I juss got new bulbs for my P5 today...hehe cheap Eurolite Xenons, but Im juss lookin for something whiter, not brighter...add to the looks. How much are those Silverstars btw?

ProtegePrincess December-30th-2002 11:41 PM

I would agree with NegatiZe
he told me about the phillips and I have
since ordered+installed them
and they are very good and bright
the whites look cool, but they are good as nothing in rain
or city driving because the color does not show
rather the goldish makes a difference in the road
and you could see what you are driving in
if you want to add some looks, then add foglights
check out the pics in my website and see for your self
