Shaved Emblems

Hey, I was thinking over some ideas that I wanna turn into reality over the summer. Just gauging the respone to shaving the emblems from my Protege. To me it seems that the only ones to go would be the three on the trunk, the two decals near the front wheel wells, and the Mazda emblem on the grill. Has anyone tried this or investigated pricing or the like? I was also wondering what it would take to shave the keyhole on the trunk. Since my Pro doesn't have a fob actuated trunk opener I wouldnt be able to open it without going inside the car Correct me if I'm wrong on that or if there are other ways to go around that problem. Just let me know if it would even look good. Thanks in advance.

I was thinking of doing the same thing. You can always just remove the front emblem with the grill and put mesh in there. I have the Erebuni kit and it already came that way and I love it. The two on the side (I am assuming you are talking about the ES, LX, DX stickers) peel right off with a little work. I think Witchdoktor has shaved his rear emblems and it looks awesome. He might be able to give you a price.

yep its been done...and a shaved car does look nice.....just keep in mind that the three emblems on the back all have alignment pins and holes that they fit into...to do this the RIGHT way...the emblems are removed...the paint ground off around the holes and the holes WELDED up .... then a little grinding/smoothing....then some primer and repaint the entire area..

as for the trunk key hole...the same way to make it go away as above...as for how you are now going to open your trunk? well I would think you would need to install some sort of solinoid activated mechenism to actuate it....or a pull cable into the interior of the car much like the gas lid or hood release.

Yeah...that annoys me though having to go in the car to open the trunk, but I can live with it. The only other thing would be get a trunk popper, if there is such a thing to get as an aftermarket accessory. Thanks for the input.

Ya, you could even shave your door handles too and get a "popper" kit which will open all that for you at the press of a button.

So I suppose a "popper" kit comes with some sort of control remote and what if you lose it then what do you do. I have taken the badges of the back I just left the mazda logo and yesterday I painted the turning signal red and man that looks awesome I will post pics as soon as I can.

CL4RK has a sedan, so he should have a trunk popper right next to his fuel door release.

USUALLY what you do is hide a button somewhere on the car such that if you lose the remote you can just sneek to where ever it is hidden on the car...reach in and hit the button and POP the door open....

You should shave the antenna while you are at it. I hate the way it looks.

Got ya, I just still think that is kind of risky, but oh well.

Yes, I do have the popper in my car. As for the antenna, well, how would I get reception? Thanks.

unless I am mistaken....doesn't the mazdaspeed have the antenna in either the front or rear glass? and no external antenna?

you could always spend the big bucks and replace the windshield or back glass..... :{D
