I looked up toucan.com and clicked Ractive section, but could not find cross drilled and slotted rotors for the P5.
They must not have updated the site yet, but I'm definitely sure I saw them in the new 2003 catalog. 150% sure. I'll get the phone # and catalog # for you.:)

How am I being redundant? That makes no sense in relating to what I posted.

Psuedo said I should have posted in the interior/exterior section. I was telling him I was replying to Sir_Nuke when he said that getting bigger brakes were pointless. I said I would do it for looks.
Actually, you're being redundant.

No, i was actually saying that this ENTIRE thread should be in the exterior forum, since the original topic starter is of the same mindset as you.......which is NON-performance oriented. So BOTH of you, stop bitchin'

If it needs to be move, then move it. Don't tell me.

And how is saying I like cross drilled rotors for looks bitchin? Y'all are so uptight. Drink a beer, fresh air, loosen up or something...nevermind, just forget the whole thing.

Anywho, Protege5Lava, here is the link to the 2003 catalog. In should be under Ractive only http://ractive.com/index.php?submenu...&link=Catalogs If you can't find it from this actual link, I'll get the real catalog and retrieve the part number for you.:)

Since when aren't brakes a performance item? Drilled and/or slotted rotors may not increase braking power, but both remove unsprung weight and rotational inertia. Every bit of weight that can be removed from the hubs helps handling, acceleration and BRAKING. Thats why so many racers do it, and why almost every motorcycle made today does too.

In race conditions they also aid in off gassing the pads, add a little cooling and reduce fade to a slight degree. I've cooked many a wheel bearing thru brake over heating, and use cross drilled and slotted rotors to help eliminate that problem alone. It does make a difference, when your brakes glow red hot. But if you're doing that on the street you should be shot.

Big rotors with matched calipers typically add weight, but can reduce heat build up even more, by generating more torque with less friction. And under race conditions offset the weight penelty. Why else would the world's highest performance cars and motorcycles use big cross drilled Brembos? Just cuz they look good?

Sir Nuke is right though. You have to do it right, and I wouldn't replace a prefecly good rotor on a protege just for looks. You also must maintain an engineered ballance between front and rear brake torque whatever you do, or you're in for a world of hurt someday.

Stoptech is a fine set up if you can justify the price for looks alone, because they're heavier than stock, and nobody on the street really needs that extra power or over heat protection.

I had to get that off my chest, thanks.

What's next? Led lights on calipers?

or powered by Honda on the rotors?
