i appologize for the more obnoxious than usual thread title, but has anybody had rockford rca's in their system? i ran two seperate pairs, two seperate designs at that, of Rockford RCA signal cables. i hooked them into my jbl 200 watt 4 channel amp and the feed sounded great, except for a certain alternator whine that disappears over about 1/4 volume. i've only ever ran subs really to give a **** about my rca's, so i never noticed the alternator whine humming through my sub(s). the one pair is from my friends system i just installed and that was total bullshit, it kept sending a constant thumping through the sub, no matter how the rca's were ran. only the replacement with a set of monster cables solved the problem! i need to get a new set of rca's for both front and rear channels, but i'm just wondering, has anybody else had a problem with shitty RF rca's?

p.s. my ground wire is fine, i had no problem when i had my monster cables running in there until i severed them trying to re-rout them, so for now, my system hits great without subs, but i just can't figure what the hell is wrong with rockford rca's?

Demon- it is not limited to any brand or style of RCAs. I have been pretty brand nuteral most of my life on RCA hardware for just this reason. What brand will not get induced noise varies by install to install, and even will vary dependng upon where the RCA lines are run and what is near them.
I like very much the Delta Factor cables that David Navone designed and are now sold by Monster- best noise floor I have found, and just for show purposes I like Kimber and Vampire wires. But I strongly feel that there is no audiable difference in RCA lines(unless they are the most rat cheap lines made and even then probably improperly built)- that is pure audio VooDoo.
They can help with induced noise, but otherwise it is pride, display and dollars.
By the way in Audio, stuff like RCA lines, speaker cables, power cables have the most unbelievable profit magins of all hardware- so folks might want to do themselves a favor by not squandering a fortune on the wires and instead invest in some slightly better speakers- those at least you will hear a difference in!!

yeah, but then again, i've already dumped lets say $100 bucks on my front speakers, i get signal noise even to GREAT quality 2-way boston acoustic speakers in the rear of my car, so lets say i spend $300 bucks on a 'real' set of component speakers, i install them, sound great, then i amp them, i'm still back to square one with 300 bucks i didn't have the personal adjenda or budget to replace... they work, they sound great to me, hence, no personal need or want to change my front speakers in the mean time. my particular experience is RCA cables included in Rockford Fosgate amp kits ($80 for a 10 gauge and an 8 gauge kit my friend bought for $100). these particular cables produce alternator whine in 3 of the vehicles they've been installed in. i try following the recommendation to run the rca's on one side, and power and remote wire on the other side. my ground wire is tied into my rear seat bracket and is sanded down to bare metal on all surfaces and even the chasis of the car. everything has a fuse, every procedure in wire splicing (minus the soldering) ie stripping, twisting, and heat shrinking has been followed. polarities are NOT switched at all, i know this for a fact. my rca's are run to the proper channels. i even used the noise filter for the wiring harness that alpine recommends using.. i've even uninstalled the thing to determine what could be wrong. i've done everything by the book and how i've been told, and even despite trying to play the old 'rabbit ears' trick by moving the wires around the car to see where they get the least amount of noise. even though some of these precautions might have nothing and everything to do with the creation of signal noise, i still get signal noise. my monster cable rca's had NO such problem with all of these same precautions, still, i'm SOL and end up with noise. i'm just going to apease my situation and go with what i know has worked for me in the past and get 2 sets of monster cables, but why are these particular 2 sets of rca's from Rocksford Fosgate a problem for me?
