Question Remote wire

Really dumb question here, but when you have multiple amps, crossover, and an Audio Control piece and was wondering if all remote wires are tied in together or not. So do I have to keep splicing wires and tying them all in together when you have multiple components? Thanks for bearing with the dumb question of the week.

if you have a lot of components, like you do, it may be wise to use a relay, as the more load, the more stress. but yes, all remote wires can be daisy chaned from one component to the other.

What head unit do you have? If it's an Alpine, they are known for weak *** remote outputs, so i definetely suggest a relay.

the relay
pin 85 = remote wire from radio
pin 86 = chassis ground
pin 87 = 12v constant power (5 amp fused)
pin 87a = not used
pin 30 = output to all compontents

I have the CDA7830 I believe. It has the 4Volt preouts. It's an older unit (probably from '97 or '98). The only problem I had with it was it would not play CDs sometimes or would eject CD when put in, but it's been repaired and works fine ever since.

i still suggest to use a relay.

btw, the 4volt pre-outs have nothing to do with the remote wire. the pre-outs are the RCAs. Higher voltage (i.e. stronger signal) = less noise.

the remote wire is also used for a power antenna trigger (but your Alpine may have a dedicated antenna wire AND remote wire) most decks only have the one wire for both functions.
