Question rear deck speakers in ES

Can anyone recommend specific models of speakers that will fit the rear deck. The Crutchfield site only list 3. I do not want to visibly alter the rear deck. I am partial to Blaupunkt, but I am open. I am looking in the $100 (MSRP) price range. I will keep the HU for now, but upgrade later. Thanks so much.

hey,

i recently installed jbl gto 935s into my rear deck and it was a perfect fit. the whole install probably took less than a half hour, with most of that time trying to get the rear deck off of there. the sound is sooo much better. i intalled those and installed my fronts (gto635s) a few days later, in those few days i still had the stock speakers in the front. when fading between the front and back i noticed a huge difference in sound quality. finally getting my new mp3 deck tomorrow so i can get rid of the stock hu, it doesn't really send that much power to the speaks.

How was the install in the rear deck? (I mean, how do you get it off?).

I've got new speakers on order, and will have to do it soon. The doors are nicely covered on that 3rd party website

when you fold the seats down, right behind them you will see five fasteners that hold the front of the deck down. just use a flat tip screwdriver to carefully lift them out, they come out really easy. that's all i thought there was from reading the posts, however, the deck still would not come off. what i did was just lay down, with the seats folded down still, and stick my head into the trunk. you'll see i think three yellow/orange looking fasteners, just use something to pop them out from below and then pull the deck off. i have a spoiler so i didn't even have to deal with the brake light, whole thing took very little time. good luck!

I put some old 6" Alpine components that i had sitting around from my old car.......they fit really well and i was able to stick the tweeters under the grill too.....i had my friend build me some speaker plates, so that they were air tight....but other then that i think that most 6" components (possibly 6.5) would fit if you built some plates

Crutchfeild sucks in many ways. The issue is not mounting depht in the rear of a sedan, but the overhear, how much room for the coax tweeter to stick up. The measurements are out there on this in several locations.
There is a vast market of 6 X 9 speakers out there, and many will fit just fine in the rear deck.
