This is my first time posting so please go easy on me
So I let my EX boyfriend mess around with my stereo in an attempt to attach a sub in my trunk (I know stupid me). Well the sub worked awesome, but when he went to put the stock stereo back in the screen would not light up.
He said he would get it fixed but we have since broken up and I really don't feel like asking him for help.
Has anyone else had this problem......all the buttons will light up just not the screen. I was hoping I didn't have to go into a dealership and get it fixed because I know they won't cover it because I did let him screw around with it.
What can I do? Any advice is greatly appreciated!!!

Are you saying that you have no readout on the display at all? No clock, station, etc.? What car do you have, and I assume by you saying you don't want to go to the dealer for service, you have the stock radio. This information would help in seeing if we could find a solution to your problem.

Woops......sorry i should have provided more info
I have an '02 protoge 5
The screen does show a read out (time, radio, etc.) it just will not light up the orangey color, and yes it is the stock stereo. I was hoping to upgrade it but have decided to postpone that for a while.

Ok, so the backlight for the display doesn't light up. Yeah, it sounds to me like its internal to the radio simply for the fact that the buttons still light up. Its pretty had to imagine that its anything that your ex did; in theory, if it was something he did the buttons shouldn't light up either.
I probably would still run it past the dealer to see what they have to say. If it does cost you anything, I've got to believe it'll be pretty minimal. If not that, try a car audio shop - those guys should definitely be able to straighten it out.
