Lightbulb Genuine Protege/P5 Rear Cupholders in Canada

After looking at the Mazda USA website, it appears that you do not have the option of a Mazda rear cupholder available in the Accessories section (correct me if I am wrong) for the Protege/P5. I was just looking at our Mazda Canada website and I notice that in the Accessories section for the 2002 Protege sedan (but not in the P5 section; though I assume the console is the same for both), that there is the availability of a Genuine Mazda rear cupholder. It is CAN $130, which would translate to about US $80. It is a little pricey, but it is a Mazda piece. I mention this because I know some of you in the US on this forum have inquired about them or made their own. Just phone up any Canadian dealership and ask them if they will ship them to you; I'm sure they would. There is a list of all the Canadian dealerships within the site.

Exclamation

If the rear cup holder is now available in Canada am I ever going to feel foolish. I just ordered one from Japan.

I couldn't find any reference to a rear cup holder in any of the brochures, or on the web site. I even went to the dealership and asked them if they could source the part number. They said they had not a clue as to how they could even find that out. Thanks to theMan and others on the forum; I was able to find out the parts number. They are in another thread.

Wish you the best of luck.

Call me stupid but I just looked at the website and the accessories for the 2002 protege, and did not find any cup holder as an accessory.

Please post a link or a picture.

I've seen what you're talking about.

It's been there for months. I think it was an '02 Sedan option when I first saw it.

When I saw it, I went and asked the dealer about it. They had NO idea what I was talking about.

My apologies Mantis. There is a rear seat cup holder available.

It is a 2003 accessory, and it is only available in Black. I was at Bank Street Mazda in Ottawa an hour and a half ago and had it in my hand.

The price quoted above is way high though. It retails at $59.00 CDN. or around $40.00 U.S.

Here is the roundabout way to the page within the Mazda Canada website that lists options and accessories, along with prices for the 2002 Mazda Protege sedan. As you will see, Mazda Canada lists the part as being CAN$130.01.

www.mazda.ca/eng/siteindex.html

Once at this page, choose the link "Mazdamaker" (under "Showroom"), pick the Protege sedan, and follow the directions and you will come to the options/accessories page. (I was not able to post a direct link to this page). There you will see the cupholder listed (no pictures).

What's wrong with me??

I'm getting excited about finding and installing this rare, hard-to-find rear cupholder.

I need help.

What the heck? $130 for a cup holder. And I thought the Honda one was expensive. The Mazda one is the same price. If you go for a 1 cup holder instead of 2 you can do it for $7.95 CDN.

Here is mine.

The rear cup holders are not, I repeat not $130.00. They can be had for $59.00 CDN. at any dealership in Canada. That would mean $40.00 U.S. It is a 2003 part. Unfortunately it's only available in Canada in Black.

That is cheap for an original manufacturers part that fits properly, and is covered under the manufactures warranty.

Just call your local dealership and find out if the part is carried in the states.

I had mine installed Friday at Bank Street Mazda here in Ottawa. I probably now have the only 2002 Protege LX in Canada with grey (I got mine from Japan before I knew they were available here.) factory rear cup holders. I think that is kind of neat.

Anyway they are not $130.00

The Japanese parts numbers are

B3OK-VO-890F-65 for Black cupholders

B3OK-VO-890F-05 for Grey cupholders

B30K-VO-89OF-80 for Beige cupholders.

I ordered mine through www.japanparts.com It took about 14 days to get them.

They cost around $60.00 CDN or $40.00 U.S. The shipping was a minimum charge (for 1 or 5) of $27.00 CDN or $18.00 U.S.

If you want the Canadian parts number, just call your local dealer.

I'll try to post some pictures on the weekend.
