Yeah. Every kit needs tweaking. However this kit will require regular Protege's to purchase the rebar mount for the MP3 from a Mazda dealer.

I'm mostly interested in the little wing at the top of the rear window...Not the rest of the kit.

I like the way the MP3 looks, I don't want to add all that other stuff.

I don't know if anybody noticed, but the car isn't an MP3 if anybody thought that, it an LX or SE, you can tell by the head lights if it were and ES the lights would be black on the inside, not chrome, but I like the chrome better anyway, it gives it a classier cleaner look, i'm gonna change my ES front headlights to the chrome ones like on this car.

That's what they did. They used SE/LX lights, cleared the outer signals, and put them on this MP3. They clearly state on their site it's for the Mazda MP3. and SpeedOptions did a writeup on the WW MP3.

I would double check that before I put any money towards it. I talked to Sylvester at wings west face to face sunday, thats who I've been talking to about this kit for a couple of months now. He said it was going to be another 60 days before that started shipping. Although it would be better if it was available in 2 weeks!

what about the little guy?

Looking at the pics of the wings west kit:

Is that just a trim on the mp3 bumper or is that a new bumper?
I Have an ES and would love to get this kit, minus the fender flares.

You guys know if it's gonna fit the ES?
I think the side and rear skirts would be a perfect match, but what about the front bumper? Maybe I'd just need the mp3 fog lights.

Just got a reply from Wings West again yesterday. Still looking at 4 to 6 weeks but my guess is they really dont know when its going to be. They keep giving different times depending on who & when you talk to them. When I talked to them in January, they said the kit would be out March. Then 2 weeks ago he said 8 weeks. Now they are saying 4 to 6. And as Craig said, he has been told 2 weeks, then 4 weeks. So, Im going to say they have no clue when it comes out. They probably wont know until its ready to ship!! From what I've been told is that this is a kit that fits the MP3 meaning it will use the existing body kit the MP3 (and protege5 somewhat) has. So, I wouldnt expect them to sell a kit that replaces the kit we've already got. That would be quite a waste. But it would be good for the ES (or other Protege Sedan) owners. But, they said this kit is for the MP3 & the MP3 only.

Which being for the MP3 only is a rather stupid marketing strategy as there where only what, 1500 MP3's made? But I would expect it to fit (all but the rear) on the Protege5. I dont know. Wings West doesnt really say much about this kit. I dont think anyone will know exactly what it fits/replaces/accents until it is ready to ship.

along with everyone else, i sent a request to wings west to find out when the kit would be available, and they told me the were finalizing the forms for the kits and to look for it on the web site within 2-4 weeks. whether it is 2-4 weeks or longer or shorter, i guess will depend on when the forms are finalized and ready for casting the parts.

they also told me that it would fit on the regular protege's and not just the mp3.
