JDM Tail lights
Does anybody know if the JDM tail lights fit a U.S. spec P5 and if so how much do they run for?
|
The jdm taillights for the protege5 are a direct fit .. we have a member from vancouver in mpsport.net that has them on his car... but currently the forums are offline for upgrading..
|
If you go to www.tmc2.com they have a set of altezza taillights that are DOT approved and they don't look that bad either. I think they run around $240. Just thought you might be interested.
|
I think that P5's stock tail lights are just fine, all these are overkill in my opinion:

JDM tailights
I hate altezzas especially the P5 altezzas. I love the stock P5 lights, but I just want to be Different. And to the people who bought and installed the altezza lights..... eew! Put the drugs away!!

I think these lights are not very tastefull , i would rather the JDM lights instead , you get a lot more respect for having JDM products cause they are not accessible to everyone and you can't just go to the local ma and pa store and pick em up like rice cake parts .....

DOT doesn't approve anything, SAE does... DOT writes the laws, simple as that

Damn those are ugly! Sheesh, you'd think at least someone would have some sense...
What would be oh-so-beautiful is a Black P5 (like mine) with smoked headlights (custom, Canadian, etc) and smoked tail lights, maybe along with some black wheels. That'd kick some major ass, no? |
It's looks like the tailend of the silver P5 has a serious case of warts and pimples. The ones on the blue P5 are better. Yet I think the stock ones on the P5 look the best, even better than those on the pre 2003 Familia S Wagon.

lights
Personally I would love to paint the turn and backup portions the same color as the body and then graft R34 skyline headlights upfront. or even graft skyline taillights to the rear. but right now trying to figure out the cost of going RWD with a 20B turbo. So far looking a little out of my budget.

Even suggesting s**t like this makes you sound like a dumb-a$$ f**king ricer driving a 95 Plymouth Sundance with Wal-Mart "R Racing" stickers all over it! THINK BEFORE YOU SPEAK! |

Hey, KDawgOne............
:bsflag: Don't you know when to salute the flag? Speaking before thinking is always good advice. |
I thought the lights would look OK on my P5 which is Purewhite, it would eliminate the red on the tail section. And Plymouth only made the sundance up until 94 when the neon took over in 95.

Even suggesting s**t like this makes you sound like a dumb-a$$ f**king ricer driving a 95 Plymouth Sundance with Wal-Mart "R Racing" stickers all over it! THINK BEFORE YOU SPEAK! 1. The Sundance was replaced by the Neon in 1995. 2. I have never seen any so called R-racing stickers at Walmart. Which makes me think why are you even looking for them. 3. You seem to be up to date on all the " ricer " hangouts. Which makes me think you frequent them more than Walmart. 4. This would not be the first time someone has said it can't be done and someone does it. ( Think Chevette with a Big Block or an S-10 with a Big Block ) 5. Motor swapping is not just limited to Hondas. 6. Never say never. 7. Your just pissed because you didn't think of it first. 8. Your just pissed because I can be different. 9. Your just pissed because I can afford to be different. 10. And you have no idea what I am capable of doing with a welder, plasma cutter, and a shop full of tools. 11. If you say it can't be done there are at least 5 people doing it. So before you open your mouth, carefully think about what YOUR gonna say. |

Some people are just narrow minded. They fit a 5.0 V8 in a miata. A 13b in a 323, a 454 in a chevy s10 pickup, If u have the time skillz and money u will have a 20b Protege5, Im sure when they said we are putting a mustang motor in a miata they all laughed and mocked him too. I would be happy this guy is such a dick it will motivate u to do it more ...Good luck ..Jon

Ok, first off, let me say I was having a bad day.
Second, I get REALLY touchy when people want to put other car's parts on their Mazads. I find it kinda insulting to the comapny as a whole. "I AM NOT A MAZDA DRIVER, I AM A DIE-HARD MAZDA FAN" Third, I never actually doubted the swap could be done. I would ACTUALLY like to see it. Finnally, time to defend myself: "9. Your just pissed because I can afford to be different." Why would that piss me off? I can afford it too. BTW, you dont need money to be different. "8. Your just pissed because I can be different." Go ahead. I encourage individuality. I'm tired offf seeing the same-old cookie-cutter cars. OH! Doing "Skyline Conversions" is NOT very orignal at all. Why not put gullwing/lambo dooors on it too. OOO! How about S15 headlites? Maybe a Chameleion paint job? No? How bout a flip-flop hood? Some of these mods ARE cool, but, that doesnt make them original and/or different (Othe than in the world of Proteges) "7. Your just pissed because you didn't think of it first." Dont assume. Who HASNT thought about putting a little Wankle into ther Pro... "5. Motor swapping is not just limited to Hondas" DUH! Im currently figuring out plans for a BPT... "3. You seem to be up to date on all the " ricer " hangouts. Which makes me think you frequent them more than Walmart." You got it! JDM is sooooooo 'rice'....lol "2. I have never seen any so called R-racing stickers at Walmart. Which makes me think why are you even looking for them." So youve been looking for them too huh? (Way to contradict yourself) In closing, I just wish people would be more willing to make their Proteges more like they were before they were shipped here; The way they were meabt to be and be proud of that ... |

Xenon has one "n" not two (check your sig). Considering that you're into JDM stuff, I'm suprised you put a Racitve axle back exhaust on your pro.
For the record, anyone looking for type-R stickers can find them at autozone. I've heard that they do wonders for the seat-of-the-pants dyno!:D |

BTW, I droped that second N...lol Also, im sorry if I offended people. I guess its not what you say but how you say it. My mom always said, "Youll catch more flys with honey than vinegar." Maybe I should listen.... |
can you guys calm down with the bashing of each other over what each other is doing to their cars ,, I don't want to have to close this topic ,, better off if you pm each other about your difference , or what you think will work or won't work

Not to beef or anything but personally the JDM body parts don't appeal to me to much for the P5. and the P5 LX 1.5 has the LX sedan (US) front clip on it. The only JDM parts I would want are the 17" 5 spoke wheels. http://www.mazda.com.hk/showroom/protege.cfm
