How Do I Install UnderBody NEON Kit??

I just got my UnderCar Kit. And Cant find out how I install the damn thing. Any Suggestions?? Any Pictures?? I have the LITEGLOW Kit so I dont know if it makes a diff. PLEASE HELP ME OUT!!By the way there White!! Right now I just installed them Inside my car and it looks pretty Hot!

How Do I get Them OUTSIDE?>?

Didn't you buy them with instructions?? There should be these little plastic things with holes on the sides. They are designed to hold the tube to the car. You install them over the actual tube and put screws through the holes. Shouldn't be that hard to figure out if you got all the parts included with the kit.

hotprotege2002 April-12th-2003 08:52 PM

yes i got all the parts, but the instructions arer just on wiring not mounting. what do i attach them to underneath the car?? do i screw straight into the plastic or what? and what are the black little box things??

The black box should be where you connect all the wires to. The plastic things I was talking about merely hold the tube. A screw goes through them on both sides. You'll have to drill into your car.

Here's a link I found that might help you out:

The plastic things are labeled as "clamps" on that site.

I can't recall what the little box pieces are. Here's a few pics I found that might give you an idea of what I am talking about.

Neon underbody lights help

I put a set of red neon lights on my 93 323, and its looks sweet. The thing to do it throw those piece of crap clamps in the trash. Go to home depot, they sell some square zip tie holders. They are in the wiring section I believe. They are a square piece of plastic that has a hole in the middle. You screw the holder into the underbody near the edge in the furthest from the ground channel you can find.

Then you buy the high dollar UV ressistant Zip ties in white and zip tie it down. The plastic holder and the zip ties will hold the neon tube closer to the body and take alot more damage and wont break before the clamps will.

Self tapping screws that are about an inch to 2 inches long do wonders as far as holding this to the body. I did the entire installation in under 3 hours, and that was the first time I had ever done that. If you need pics to understand the square plastic zip tie holder, then email me and I will take some pics.

Well, you decide where you want to mount them. Your goal would be to mount them so the tubes themselves are not visible, just the light. And whatever you do, DO NOT DRILL THROUGH THE GAS TANK!!!!!!!!

I will take pics tommrow to show you. I should have them posted before the end of the week.

When you open your door there is a sill. Usually held in by a couple of screws. Your goal is to drill thru the bottom of the car against the flattest metal part for the tube to ride as far away from the ground as possible.

When you drill/screw thru the metal it is a good idea to buy some silicone water sealant to seal the edges of the holes if possible from within and under the car. I got a tube at home depot for like 3 bucks. lay out all of the stuff before you go and start drilling, as you should have enough wire, but you may need more.

Drilling is tough, especially since the metal is kinda thick and has that undercar rubber foam spry to reduce noise. Just drill thru it all.

The reason why I mentioned the sill above is because the sill covers a hollow channel tube of usually a few wires ( I know for sure on my 323 b/c I tore it all apart to see where the screws were going ) Your goal is to screw into the bottom of that tube and not hit any wires or anything else. Fun fun fun.....
First time I did it, it took me the better half of 6 hours.

Thats the hard side ones. The front and rear ones are a breeze. Those you just gotta be creative as to where to mount and ALWAYS watch for wires, as that can mess you up soo bad in the future. Good luck and I will get those pics up asap.

And since you arent planning to mount lights on your gas tank, just ignore what Jon said...

ignore the part about ignoring jon, I wrote this at like 4:30 am, and my mind is messing with me, I thought that it was someone else in the forum who gets on my nerves. Sorry, no offense to anyone, as I said I am really tired.......

Later~
