Help!!! New CD deck shuts off when panel light is on.

Hi, everyone:

I have posted the same question in the general discussion already, but I figure I should have posted it in here.

Here is my problem, I just installed a new CD deck in my 1992 protege SE, but it will only turn on when the panel light is off. Whenever I switch on the panel light, the new CD deck would shut off automatically by itself. Very strange??

Then I tried to install back the factory cassette deck just for testing, and everything works fine, either when the panel light is on or off. But I noticed with the old cassette deck, some buttons will also be turned on when I switch on the panel light, even when the ignition is off. Therefore, I am wondering if my new CD deck like that or not.

Anyone had the same problem before? How did you get around with it? Please share some of your insights. Thanks you.

sounds like you may have crossed wires when installing the deck? Check the constant and accessory leads, see if they aren't variable with the dash lights. I've seen a deck installed with the constant and acc. lead switched before...
