Question Help!!!

I just bought a '02 Protege ES, and I want to pull the factory stereo out, but I can't figure out how to do it. I've pulled off the sides of the HU, and tried to use coat hangers in the holes to unlock the unit, but it won't come out. Is there a screw in the back? This is driving me crazy! Any help would be appreciated.

you must insert the tools/coathangers in both holes on both sides at the same time, then lightly press them outwards and at the same time, give a little pull towards you. You may have to do a side at a time, then try to grip the radio and pull or if your able to reach around to the back, give it a little push. But usually they slide out nice and easy.

buy the right removal pins from any car audio shop, it will save you time and scratches on your dash. insert the pins in both sides at the same time, than pull the HU out from the sides.

If you cant get it out, the whole front center piece comes right off. just tilt the AC ducts enough to get a grip, and pull it out. it all snaps on and off. you need to unplug, AC vents, AC controls, hazard light controls, and HU controls, than you can take the whole thing out.
