Tell me you got a good deal and didn'y actually pay $90 for bulbs.

You could have bought the same PIAA xtreme white bulbs for $60 at www.optauto.com

I hope you like your bulbs.

PIAA is way too expensive. Give me proof they are superior bulbs. Marketing at its best.

i've had no problems with my PIAA H3's which were put in last november...they are brighter then stock 55watt bulbs without increasing the amperage

PIAA are really good when it comes to HID-look bulbs. Much better than most other blue coated crappy HID bulbs.

If you're talking about regular bulbs, then it's not that much better.

And u're right, a lot of marketing gimmick used.. i really like this one:

55w<=>110w

WTF? free energy generation?

You want proof, that's easy. Just swap from the stock ones you've got and wait till it gets dark !! There's your proof. !!
Forget all the bluey colored bulbs and go for good crisp light for real driving instead of just looks, anyone can get the "look" with freakin' $ 10.00 crap.

Different Gases = brighter? Perhaps different spectrum output, but not brighter. That stern lighting sums it up good, they (piaa's) kick out light in hotspots, so when you put a photometer out in front of the said hotspot it gives back a light output equal to 110w bulb. But they put out the same amount of total lumens, so you are stealing light from other places.

And 110 bucks (USD) for those ion crystal piaa's. I got my Silverstar's shipped from England for $50 CAD, and between those and the Vision Plus, there is nothing better. Real light is thrown farther and wider down the road, and I even get flashed when just using my lowbeams, and they are the same yellow colour as stock. I recommend them (h7's from overseas), just don't get the 9005's from the States. They are made by Sylvania (not Osram) and are just overpriced HID lookalikes and are certainly not worth it in my opinion.

I was just wondering where all you guys got your unreproachable knowledge of lighting. Yeh I've read that stern lighting deal, but my eyes tell me that there is more light with my PIAA's. But hey to each there own right ? Marketing ? Perhaps somewhat, but they aren't factory installed lighting on some of the best cars in the world because PIAA makes crap, there is a reason they can charge what they do and that all other companies compare theirs to PIAA.

Have I got some sugar pills for you.....El Placebo Effecto.....just kidding. Seriously some cars do use PIAA driving and fog lights (which is what they are famous for and experts on ). The problem is that they used that market leverage to promote regular headlight bulbs as a cut above the rest, when they are in fact not . Lamps and bulbs are two seperate things, and they should leave bulb design to the experts like Ring, Osram and Phillips, among others. Also remember that only the small Eurolite and Falcon HID look-a-likes of the world compare themselves to PIAA bulbs, mainstream bulb manufacturers rarely if ever do. Then again, if you are going for that style of light I am sure the PIAA's are excellent. Personally I good light output and coverage.

Hey guys,

I just replaced my bulbs with MTEC high and low beams that draw 90 and 100 watts....I know this increases the amperage drawn, but it still falls short of the fuse rating....

These bulbs are almost too bright!!! I have run these MTEC higher wattage bulbs in my hondas with no problem at all....what do you guys think about using the higher wattage???????

Any comments welcome....

Also, after installing the bulbs I noticed that the low beams stay on when the high beams are turned on....I can't say I remembered checking this prior to replacing the bulbs....

Can someone walk out to their car and turn the highbeam headlights on and conform/deny if the low and high beams stay on together???????

Thanks for the help...

Eric...

In my first gen they don't, unless you hold the switch at exactly the right angle (just a trick/flaw I guess. Maybe it's that way so that it gives the hi-beams a little extra time to warm up before the low-beams switch off).

I have those Sylvania Cool Blues...not very worthwhile IMO. They do make good driving lights though. Remember the white light can be more catchy to the eye, even though it doesn't really provide more illumination. It seems like it would catch attention better in a rear view mirror.

Otherwise, at night it's not great, and with rain it really didn't seem very good. It reflected a lot off the rain.

EDIT: P.S. I know on my mom's volvo, there are actually four bulb enclosures up front. When turning on the high beams (inside set of enclosures), the low beams stay on, but switch into an even lower mode. Dunno if this helps, just FYI
