glass sunroof\lightcovers?
since i got my protege, i've wanted it to have a glass sunroof, instead of just a movable metal plate.
the other day i saw a protege very much like mine with a nice tinted sunroof...
where can i get this done?
and for how much?
i also saw a protege (a newer gen though) with neat black headlight covers...(where when the headlights are on, they shine right through...)
i wondered first if they were legal... then i wondered where i could get them...
they'd probably have to be custom fit, i'd guess...

Hmm, I hear you about the sunroof. I'm surprised that your 93 still has the metal roof, I thought that after 92 they all went to glass. Anyway, I'm not sure if the size is the same but check the local junk yards. If it fits post back and let me know as I wouldn't mind doing the same thing.
As for the headlight covers, they should be available from the local autoparts store.

AFAIK you can take the glass sunroof from a '91-'96 Escort. I may be looking at this too since my roof has about half a dozen rust bubbles under the paint. My only concern is having some sort of privacy shield underneath for when I don't want the sun coming thru the glass. Even tho it'll be tinted, it's never enough down here - the sun is brutal.

Go to a boneyard and look for a tracer ltz with a glass roof or a escort gt. They are the same. I have done the swap and its great! Got rid of the dents in my roof and it loks 10 times better. But i couldnt get the sunshade to work. It doesnt matter though its very tinted and the sun never bugs u. u just need to remove the 6 bolts holding the glass on the rails and take the clip on pieces to cover up the mechanics of the roof. Took me 20 mins to swap in. Prob the best mod i have done :-) just post your email and i will send u pics. Or someone can post them on here..Jon

about how common is it to find those cars at junkyards?
i've been meaning to go junkyard hunting for awhile... so much to look for though, and i'm afraid most of it is quite rare...
mx-3 seats and black carpet, escort gt sideskirts, spoiler, and sunroof, etc...
i'm sure rarity has to do with locality, and having seen only one modded first gen protege ever around here, i don't know if a junkyard will be an untapped treasure trove, or a whole lot of nothing...
oh yeah, about headlight covers... are they pretty much one size fits all or do they have specific car sizes?
and are they legal?
i'd love to just get clear cornered E-specs, but yeah.... right...
lastly, any ideas for taillight options? i know there's plenty i can do, what have others done?
