Front Mask

I just got the front mask ( bra ) for my P5 from Mazda. I don't really like it but I need it since I do a lot of long distance Hwy driving. ( about 3,000 miles a month ).

First of all, I ordered it through my Mazda dealer and took two months to get here.

It's very expensive. $131.00. I looked al over the place and couldn't find an aftermarket one.

The fit is not the greatest. The hood portion doesn't align with the rest. Also the hood portion doesn't have straps to keep it tight on the hood. It just haves one long strap that goes across the hood. I had to get two small bungee cords and placed them on each end to keep it in place

The openings for the grill, fog lights, and side marker in the bumper piece, it's ok, but I had a hard time trying to make it fit right. Also it has the Mazda lettering in chrome.

It's not worth $131.00

I've heard bad things about the dealer bras. I have the magnetic bra available which is nice & fits perfectly & in my opinion is much safer than a regular bra but it only covers the front part of the hood & not the whole front bumper & everything. But its better than nothing. And it looks nice. Thanks for posting your view of the dealer bra. Doesnt sound too good! Can you send it back?

You guys are absolutely correct. The thing is ugly. But I need a full bra to protect the bumper and air dam from rock chips. I'll take it off for weekend cruising.

If you guys can do without the full bra I recomend the magnetic hood piece that Mitch sells. It's sweet, and fits perfectly

Dam, mine should get to the dealer today. I knew it didnot look as good as other bras, but your dissappointment worries me. And you know the dealer knows, that is why they special order it, so you cannot return it.

Can you get your money back? I mean since they can't deliver on the promised date, maybe you'll be able to get your money back.

It's not worth it. The only reason I kept mine is because I drive at least 150 miles a day and I already have a few chips on the bumper and hood. But beleive me I'll take the ugly thing off on the week ends.

why do a guy need a bra for?

seriously, even though you drive 3,000 miles a month I still don't see the need of havin' one. What's gonna happen is gonna happen, I don't see why you want to protect the bumper if your not even going to show it (since it's cover with da bra). But then again I guess putting one on a normal day or "Working" day will be all right...

That's exactly what I'm doing. Take it off on week ends. Beleive me, eventually the bumper will look like **** after a few months without it.

You're right what's gonna happen is gonna happen, and in a nice salty winter environment that means that when you get a nice chip in the paint on the nose of the car you are looking at some wicked rust in short order.

I have considered getting something for the nose of the hood for my P5 so that it does not look like my last car... and in that case the metal was galvnized so that when it chipped it did not rust as quickly... it worked for a while, but after a few years all those little chips began to act up!
