Front Grills for Pros

All righty, making a front grill for my car, what's the best way to tie it so that it stays, and should I take out the stock black grill that's in the front or put this one over the top? Has anybody made any already, and would like to share their wisdom with me?

I haven't done it, but for what it's worth, I would think you could go over the stock grille if the material you're using is thin enough. If not, replace the stock grille and use the plastic plugs that hold it in place to hold the new grille. Make sure you use something around the outside of the mesh grille to prevent it from grinding against the bumper cover and hood.

Ordering up Grills

I was starting to work on getting the orders together for the AT Grills & wanted to see who else was interested. The price is 71.00USD for paypal & us shipment (69.00 for money order & us shipment) Canadian shipping is a little bit more. E-mail me at mbuckner@protege5online.com if you have any questions or want to put your order in. Heres the link for the pics & info - Grills

If possible could you make just the top portion available fo regular 3rd Gens? Probably sell a couple more that way. Or a whole different 3rd gen kit for the smaller bottom grill.

They have the same exact grill (same company & everything) at ATgrills.com for much cheaper. And they even have auctions on ebay about every other week or two for about 50 bucks(USD$). I dont mean to be killing your buisness, im just looking out for the good of the MP5(and mazda) community. Im really sorry to kill your buisness but your overcharging quite a bit. Also, i think they will sell you just the top or bottom grill. Personally, im gonna custum make mine, its not that hard(You guys should try it, its not too hard and much cheaper). If i do it successfully ill post a How To. I also plan on custom making a CAI which i will also post a "how to" on it.

Depending on how many mods i do and what i come across, i might be opening up a simple little site to tell you guys how to do sweet mods for cheap. I wont sell anything directly but tell you where you can find the best deals on stuff and how to save money while making your MP5 faster and look better. Peace Out..

Well, I get these grills from AT Grills & they are usually more expensive than me. The price usually goes for about 75.00-85.00USD on ebay because they charge 15.00 shipping. I will check on just the top half. Is the top grill the same on the 3rd gen? If so, that shouldnt be a problem. They are supposed to have another grill coming out for one of the other Proteges this week. I e-mailed them asking about that so I'll also ask about just the top.

I checked out the site for the grills and the price is the same as Protege5online, plus whatever they'll charge for tax, shipping and handling. Unless It's a lot cheaper somewhere else I would get mine from Protege5online. Put me on the list

The 01 mirrors should be the same as the 00, BUT Mazda has a package for body matched side mirrors, I have it on my 01...You can ither order the body matched side mirros from Mazda WHICH THEY WILL SEVERELY RAPE YOU ON, or sand your current ones down and get them painted, shouldn't cost much from a good paint/bodyshop.

EDIT: Damn enter key

Hi! I am new here (00-Protege-LX).

Anyone out there looking for grill-mesh? I am the 'grill-mesh-guy'.
I've installed them on numerous cars this past summer (Civic, Accord, Integra, Elcipse, Maxima, Protege-2Gen-3Gen and more).

Lightbulb

I have been through many grilles on my Pro and I say the best way is to go over the factory grille. I tried replacing the stock grill originally and it looked bad because it is really hard to tie it down and make it even looking. I went to my local tuner and they used Folia-Tec racing grille chrome stuff to go over the factory grille. It looks pretty sweet now, I can post pics if you want

hey, monkeyman63, what's up? remeber me? we chatted few months ago about your sidemarkers and grill. anyhow, all the stuff for my car are almost complete (have pics soon). i've got; white lights front and rear; silver grills top and bottom; lowered; spoke rims; aluminium interior trims and pedels; leather steering and shift; sidemarkers; and body-kits are currently under construction.
