Angry Confuzzled

Ok I went searching the board and still haven't found the answer. Now I will turn to the trusty and knowledgeable members of the forum. What are the speaker sizes on the 2003 P5 (stock seperates in the front, total 6 speakers)? I really appreciate the help and apologize about the overly killed question.

Have a safe and Happy New Year!

Front doors - 5x7/6x8 (interchangeable size)

Rear doors - 6.5" rounds.

Not sure what size the tweeters are, but almost any aftermarket tweeter should be able to be fit in there with a little ingenuity. If you want to know the real size, just pop off the triangle panel and take a look - they are only clipped in place, and careful prying pops them right off, no sweat. You should be able to pull it off with just your fingers.

I believe the stock tweeters are about 1/2".

the STOCK speakers that are in your front doors are 5 X 7's.....yes if you want to replace them with 6 X 8's they will fit.

and the rear door speakers are in fact.....6 inch. not 6 1/2's

something to keep in mind....IF you are replacing your door speakers with a size other than what is there.....the rain guards that are on the stock speakers will NOT fit the new speakers without modification/adaption. Just something to keep in mind.

and another thing....if you get speakers for the front that have a mounting depth of more than 2 5/8 inches....the window is going to hit them when you roll them down. you don't have to worry about this on the rear doors as there is approx. 4 1/2 inches of depth there to play with.

...and the tweets can accomodate up to 1" with VERY little mod (break the tabs and tweeter fits snugly).

Thumbs up

Cool, now another newbie question. Thinking about putting in 6 1/2 in the rear, now what's the difference and which do you reccomend:
coaxial(2-way) or 3-way speakers? I was looking at the infinty Kappa 63.5is for the rear? Whaddya think?
Thanks again...

I wouldn't spend lotsa bucks on the rear doors - they are so poorly positioned, that they are tough to hear anyway.

Sit in the car, fade all the sound to the rear - you'll see what I mean.

If I had my druthers, I'd create a dedicated mid-bass setup back there. At least that sound might travel to the front better.

Concentrate on the front stage for good quality sound - add the rear speakers for "fill" if you want, but don't go nuts.

And 2 way speakers have a midrange/midbass driver, and tweeter in the middle, while 3 ways add another driver for midrange in the same unit. Stick with whatever is cheaper.

I agree with Hi Ho.....you really don't get much out of the rear doors.....of course if you are the passenger back there....you don't want to be totally left out...lol

I personally put co-axils back there...RF's to be exact....just made sure that what I put back there would handle the power they would be seeing....but I really don't hear them much as they are pretty much overpowered by the fronts and my sub.
