CD/tape decks?

I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations on CD/tape decks. I know it's an odd combo but the only places I've really seen them is factory units and a crappy *** Sanyo one. I have mad CD's but I still need the tape deck and I'm tired of the old ghetto-rigged Discman setup I have now. A friend suggested getting both a CD head unit and a cassette head unit installed. He claims he's seen someone do it on a Prism, but that sounds like a little bit of a stretch to me. Any suggestions are welcome. Thanx!

HMM, well have you looked into double din head units? i know just about every major brand makes em, sony, kenwwod, pioneer, aiwa. Go to crutchfield.com for more info. Their expensive thou so dont buy from them. Onlinecarstereo.com has good deals. Make sure you also check out ebay.com.

??

why not a tape deck and changer?

maybe i'm misunderstanding something here...

my sis wanted to keep her tape deck, but wanted to be able to listen to cd's as well...and didn't want to pay alot of $$

i got her a pioneer tape deck and 6 disk changer. she was happy as a pig in ****

just make sure that if you get a changer, don't mount the friggin thing in the trunk. ask your installer about options, depending on the size of changer you're getting. i mounted mine under the passenger seat for easy access and it hides it quite nicely (had a everything in the car stolen except the changer)

hope this helps..

I am running a clarion tape head unit and a 12 disc CD changer. works really good. the changer fits under the seat. and the tape player is the best i have seen.

i agree, the tape/changer idea is best, BUT they do make din 1/2 (not double din, won't fit on a 1st gen) but i'm not sure what brands and models are both tape & CD.

I have even seen a new (Sanyo?) that is a CD/Tape in a regular DIN size!!!

Yeah, the Sanyo is a regular DIN, but all the Sanyos I've ever seen are junk. I owned a Sanyo boombox once and it clapped out the day after it's 90 day warranty was up. The disc-changer I hadn't really considered because I was afraid it wouldn't fit under the seat. I wouldn't have been able put it in the trunk because I deliver pizzas and I'd be too afraid of it getting messed up back there. Thanx for the suggestions rash_girl and islandpro.
