Amp advice...
Hey all, I just recieved a 12" Orion H2 Subwoofer that I plan On using in some SPL competions this summer. I already have a single boxed 12" in the car and 2 amplifiers as well... so I have all wiring done in the car, when I first installed everything I made sure that I could upgrade so I have 2 Guage power and ground lines run already and it is spilt off into 2 4 guage lines for the amplifiers... So basically I can unhook my 2-amps @ the splitter and also remove my everyday sub, and put in the H2 and it's respective amplifier. With all of that in mind what would be a decent amplifier to power this H2? The sub is rated for 2000 Watts RMS @ 4 Ohm... however others have told me these subs can take more punishment than that! Any suggestions would be great, thanx.

It's a DVC sub... I'm in the process of building the box right now almost 3 cu/ft dual ported SPL box with 1" thick MDF board. I was look @ 2 JL 2-Channel Mono-block 1000 amps. They are 1000 watts RMS and would be more than enough power for this sub, however the best price I can find on these amps are $1600 CAN a piece! $3200 is a little rich for my blood right now so I ws wondering if there are any other cheaper alternatives out there? Perhaps and a more powerful single amp?

alright, here you go
planet audio 1250 watts at 1 ohm for 300 bucks
amp 1
this power is at 12.9 volts, they bench mark around 1500 watts at 14.4 volts
what is the ohm load of the sub per voice coil.
if its dual 1, then you could get 2 of these amps and really pump out some volume,
if they are dual 2 ohm
get 2 jbl 1200.1 amps, they run 275 each
you can run the jbl amp at 1 ohm, if per say you have dual 1 ohm vcs, but you won't gain any power from dropping the load.
