Awesome body kit for being homemade, I also have a 2000 Lx and i want to put on a body kit. I'll look in yards for something but do you have any suggestions on what to look for and how to apply these pieces on. Thanks

Wow, that is an awesome job on the front bumper and grille. That looks very proffesional!

I've been around junk yard quit a bit in the old days. The models that I found for possible ftting to Protege or Civic are; Pontiac Grand-Am, Ford Tempo, and older American cars. Check it out.

Some tips; for front lip spoiler, you don't have to get the actual looking front lip, look for a desirable bumper corners and cut them out to fit that may require less mending, use a hair dryer or a heat gun to do so.

How did you make your front and back lips ? Did you cut the corners of some bumper or just found some lips ? For any of the previous answers, which model did you get ?

The lip sploilers that I've got came from lower bumper corners. They weren't perfect fit. I used hair dryer to soften it up and pressed it against the car bumper corner, held on to it for minutes until it cooled. And 'voila', the profile shape is close to 100%. After installation, minor gaps can be hiddened by using silicon, preferrly matching colour. Don't forget to mask off areas before siliconing.

What I mean by model is the model of the bumper that you used for cutting your front and back lips... Grand-Am ? Also, how did you cut the lips so precisely; what tool did you used ? So if I understand correctly, I cut the corner first and then I use an hair dryer to match my front bumper !?

The model of the car bumper, I believe, is 1995 Pontiac Grand-Am. But there are many bumpers out there which are only limited by your imagination. Hmmm, it's kinda hard to explain without pictures. I will try to post pictures of 'HOW TO MAKE LIP SPOILER' during the holidays or after (if time permits).

1- select scrap bumper corner with desired shapes
2- masking tape, tape along bumper for easy marking of cut lines
3- jigsaw out the corner shape and file it smooth (sand paper)
4- hair dryer or heat gun to soften up corner piece
5- press heated corner piece against your car bumper until cooled
6- step 5 may be repeated depending on severity of curviture
7- paint (professionally or self)
8- clean surface, apply double-sided tape, install to car bumper (screws may be used if hidden from view)
9- masking-taped joined area, provide silicon of matching colour, this will hide any minor imperfection gaps
10- sit back and enjoy your own craftsmanship :)

Actually not long ago, a friend of mine post 'HOW TO MAKE LIP SPOILER' at www.toprotege.com. I was helping him with his Protege5 and he took the pictures. The part came from Dodge Shadow. It looked Pretty different. Maybe you should check that out.

I can't seem to get your pix to work. and i really really wanna see your protege.. i on the other hand is stuck with a 98.. since you own a 3rd gen, i suppose you haven't really delt with 2nd gen. i am dying to mod my car body.. seeing how you did it for 500 bucks, has got me modivated again.. i have no bodykits to choose from cept for a erebuni.. I assume you are real busy, but if you know of a nice affordable place in your area or the GTA that does sweet custom work, like you.. could you pass the info to me? any info would be sweet.. thanks.

I can't seem to get the pics or link to work either. If its no hassle I would like to have the pics e-mailed to me also. It seems that everyone else here likes the car and I have the same year so hopefully if I can see the pics I will be able to get some ideas for my car.
